HELP! Officially climbing out of crib

Kid (January2025 baby) has officially started climbing out of his crib, so I guess it’s time to transition him to a toddler bed or floor bed… problem is 17 months feels so young for this!

I’m worried he won’t understand the concept of staying in bed when he can just get up whenever he wants 🫠
To make things more challenging, we’re not at a point where sleep is completely solid yet. We still have challenging bedtime protests, occasional night wakings and early morning wakes, so I’m worried that giving him free access to his room is going to make all of that even harder.

As if that wasn’t enough, he also just figured out how to open doors with lever handles, which means that either we block the door of his room somehow or he’ll have access to the whole house unsupervised (which i don’t feel comfortable with at this age)

Has anyone else been in this situation this early? How did the transition go? Did your toddler actually stay in bed, or was it total chaos at first?
Any tips for making the transition smoother or keeping everyone safe? I’d love to hear what’s worked

New shoes refusal

Since we had to change shoes a couple weeks ago as they where too small plus heavy for the upcoming heat, my 16 month boy is loosing his mind (crying, screaming, refusing to walk) every time we put on a new pair.

We’ve tried multiple pairs and models, try to have him pick the pair to wear, showed us wearing shoes, have him play/touch the shoes before putting on, nothing works and it’s been very challenging for all of us now!

I’ve never heard of that happening and i don’t know what else to try!

Kid is otherwise healthy, very ahead of motor skills, normal development and social skills, funny loving beautiful guy!

Please tell me if this happens to you as well and any tips and tricks
