3E or 4E and why?

I picked up the 3E bundle a while ago. I've also go a hard copy of the Players Handbook. On the 4E side, I backed the Kickstarter, so I've got the beta copies of the chapters.

I've never played the game but, inspired by Guardians of the Galaxy, He-man, and the recent Umdaar and Neon Odyssey publicity, I think I've got an idea of what sort of M&M game I'd like to run. But which edition?

One the one hand 4E is new, presumably better, and will be the edition people are talking about. One the other hand, I've got a lot of resources for 3E, and there's more on the net. Most notably for me, there's character generation software. That's a big deal for a system as complex as this one.

So my (currently completely hypothetical) campaign will be Space Fantasy, high action, and starting around PL6. I'll be playing with in-person friends who are already lined up. Which edition do you think we should be engaging with?

Can anyone recommend Tales from Mervalde?

We're all new to Dragonbane. We're looking for a Campaign with plenty of opportunity between quests for base-building, faction play, etc.

Tales from Mervalde is pretty new, and I can't find any reviews up yet.

Thanks!

First, for those who might be interested - Hearts of Ravensdale is on sale - 1/2 off, today only.

But the copy on DrivethruRPG has a different cover then my copy. And it's 348 pages, compared to the 419 that I have. I pre-ordered my copy from Son of Oak. Does anyone know what's going on?
