Used EV sales are up 54%. Here's why, and how one can save you money - USA TODAY
$5 today has the same purchasing power as approximately $2.96 in 2005. Due to a cumulative inflation rate of over 69% between 2005 and 2026, $5 today buys only about 59% of what it could in 2005.
For example, the rent for a one-bedroom, one-bath apartment I rented in early 2005 was about $620. Today, rent for the same apartment is at least $1,500.
My point is --- suck it up. if you don't like $5 gas buy a used EV. We didn't have the EV option back in 2005.
<$4 /gallon gas in 2026 is equivalent to <$2.36 in 2005 value.
