Cretaceous Pines - Moat progress and some sneak peaks

Almost finished with the damn moat that has been a bane over the last few weeks due to the flattering tools not being tight enough...

Anyway, the funa played nice and looks good to boot. Just need to finish laying the rest down, adding decals to the walls (god help me) and wrap up detailing the first exhibit.

Speaking of - After alot of agg with water placement and much trial & error with fencing lay out, the second hand exhibit is practically done.

Going forward I'm planning out the rest at least to stand a better chance wrangling the terrain flattening radius (again, not tight enough)

They're just big ol' ducks

Btw - Those Spinosaurus are real sneaky. That first shot was lightning in a bottle as it happened soo fast.

Enclosures Sneak Peak from upcoming Nublar Biodome Park

While the build as a whole is far off from completion, here's a series of teasers for the first few enclosures that are finished:

Devonian Depths (1-2) Using a shallow lagoon blueprint [Cannot remember which one ATM sorry...]

Permian Pool (3-4) Using NotAdamMurray6's GeneCore biodome blueprint [804-HFP-WWM] AND Monotear's Duckweed Blueprint [1KF-R6K-GQP]. Also using one of Ipac's foliage blueprints. Can't remember the exact one but it's labeled with Cretaceous if that helps.

Triassic Thalweg (5-6) Using the same Biodome blueprint listed above.

Been taking absolute advantage of the game's small but diverse sub roster of non-saurian animals for the first exhibits in chronological order of era. You'd probably guess where I'm going with this 😛.

Debating on fleshing out a dome for Coelophysis...

Incredible Armored Core V stop motion animation.

This animator did the impossible and created a slick stop motion using the Super Robot Chogokin UCR-10/A figure which is a brick. Please check it on YouTube and support this one!

"There's always a bigger fish..."

*Megalohydrothalassophobia warning!*

Jeezus what a mouthful that word is.

Speaking of -

I'm soo glad Dunkleosteus returned as a base species in Evolution 3. It's such a cool animal to house and highly photogenic (as seen in the shots above).

It's announcement all the way back in Evolution 2 made me soo happy, alot more so than a certain other big finned fish. One thing Frontier calls good on is including non-saurian creatures from the Mesozoic - A trend which continues come Tuesday.

Operation Anamnesis - JPOG Tribute Park

(Complete Version code:) 1SN-B99-KL5 (NOT CONSOLE FRIENDLY!!)

(Empty Version code): 8LH-C36-M6W (Might be ok for console).

[ Allow time for map load in.] Original flat map by Asset87 (0M6-TST-JH0). As always a huge thank you to all the Workshop creators whose blueprints made this build possible.

A trip down memory lane for those who played Operation Genesis - Operation Anamnesis is a 1:2 recreation of a typical JPOG Park Build. Features cut species and facilities!

The unpopulated version of this tribute build is free of Dinosaurs and Foliage so you can place down whatever you like! Ideal for when Ouranosaurus returns...

JPOG Build allllmost there ...

A huge thank you as always to the incredible workshop creators for all the props and blueprints you see here. It really is possible to recreate Operation Genesis in this capacity... Mostly.

And to reiterate - this park build will be mostly flat to reflect what JPOG was most of the time... Flat, lol. They were very light on terrain tools and thus couldn't do anything super drastic like in the Evolution series and I want to reflect that here. The species roster is a mix of those who made it into JPOG in addition to cut Dinosaurs to fill in some blanks. Other inclusions harken back to planned features that didn't make it either.

I will upload the final result this week alongside an unpopulated version so you can put on whatever you like (and allow console players to stand a chance.)

Despite going in thinking this was going to be relatively straightforward - lining up the JPOG fence pieces threw that notion out of the window.

Stay tuned...

Looking forward to Torosaurus today

(Torosaurus JWE1 with Steppe skin.)

While I imagine most are looking forward to Minmi, I personally cannot wait to reunite Torosaurus with it's JPOG colleagues in game. Also curious as to how they'll handle the babies and dimorphism (PLEASE be better than the trike on the latter!!)

The one thing I'm not confident with is skins as most likely they'll be ported from 2, which remain a massive downgrade from what we got in 1. We'll see.

Just Ouranosaurus and Camarasaurus left til we got the entire Operation Genesis roster together again.

You looking forward to this returning ceratopsid?

"She's the most beautiful thing I ever saw..."

Sam Neill (1947-2026),

Still processing waking up to the news of his passing this morning. Not only was he a wonderful on screen presence, but his conservation efforts and outlook on life made him a genuine human being.

This is going to hurt for a long while.

Rest Easy Dr. Grant, thank you for being The Dinosaur man for soo many of us.

What are your top 5 most anticipated returning species to JWE 3?

Exactly what it says on the tin. Regardless of how they come back - here's mine and reasons why:

  1. Gigantoraptor - The better feathered giant (Sorry Theri), potentially good colours and fantastic hatchling design. I miss seeing it's running animations too...
  2. Ouranosaurus (CC Variant - Sorry but the Frontier one looks waaay too swollen and rubbery for my liking) Another JPOG darling, having a hadrosaur on the smaller side is awesome and I'm very partial to the CC variant's colours.
  3. Polacanthus - My Iguanodons feel lonely without it (it's a WWD induced habit, lol), decent colours and curious as to what the babies will look like.
  4. Euoplocephalus - Best Ankylosaur in the Evolution series bar none, has some fantastic colours which I hope return with it and having actual babies rather than resorting to Minmi for that role.
  5. Archelon - Biggest turtle in recorded history c'mon, one of the more diverse inclusions in the Evolution series and very keen on how it pairs up with the Rebirth Mosasaurus.

I strongly suspect two of these will return via paid DLC, but otherwise I miss these particular members quite sorely and hoping their return is on the sooner rather than later side.

What are yours and why?

Land Nest in aviary glitch at all possible? Without modding?

One of the best things to carry over from JWE2 is the beloved hatchery glitch with being able to release Dinosaurs into aviaries.

And considering what else has been uncovered in the glitch department, I do wonder if somewhere, somehow in the game's coding there's a chain to get land nests through and into aviaries. Think it's possible?

If someone cracks this puzzle my day would be made ten fold. Being able to have Dinosaur families in that enclosure type would be the dream.

"The Beasts of Bog Bottom"

(Charm and Agave PocoPhone filters used to achieve the vintage effect).

Map by CRAZY TREES: https://www.jurassicworldevolution.com/3/workshop/item/7582591125812296554

"Bog Bottom is no stranger to folklore and campfire stories of all sorts that frequent the swampy state community. Most you'd get is the slightly larger than average gator, or the rarer catfish reel.

Yet for the past 35 years, those who live in it's deepest recesses insist there is something amiss going on. It all started with reports of live stock missing or worse, found dead with abnormal mutilations impossible for the local predators - Alligators, Bears and even birds of prey to inflict. These incidents were brushed off as accidental or the work of pranksters. Even the odd "footprint" was easily explained away.

That was until a rather ghastly encounter in Bog Bottom's hottest June recorded in 2006, when a hunting dog got whisked off, right before it's owners by what could only be described as a "horse sized lizard with wings". The multiple witnesses to the event and their testimony prompted a community wide comb of the entire area to the dire of ecologists who fought to keep the unspoiled sectors just that. It wasn't long til the rate of alleged sightings sky rocketed - from the aforementioned flying lizard to snakes that walked on four legs. Almost all of them yielded no evidence outside of the eye witness accounts of eager trigger fingers, and unfortunately shot animals claimed to be the perpetrators.

Almost all, with one exception. A local with a boat and keen eye for the lens took to the swamps. They spent months venturing as far in as humanly possible. Concerns were raised when nothing more was heard from the individual, sending the community into a spiral of suspicion and rumours. What was their fate? Did something happen?

It would take years before a semblance of an answer would manifest, when wreckage of a boat washed up near a fisherman's hut. The vessel had been smashed in two, with a barely functional camera and a waterlogged journal the only traces of an occupant to be found. No blood, no body, no sign of foul play.

Local authority took possession of these items for further examination.

What they found was never disclosed to the public in full and gave a statement that raised more questions than answers. The journal was largely smudged from swamp water and nigh unreadable outside of one word, all capitals and etched in a frantic manner,

"GIANT"

Then came what was salvaged from the camera roll. Three images in particular were deemed soo sensitive, those who saw them quit their positions and gone incognito.

Once again, any official explanation boiled down to "freak accident".

After a while, search parties ceased activity and the community tried to retain some sense of normality. Sightings however didn't stop, and live stock still vanish into the scaly depths of Bog Bottom..."

JPOG style park progress

Lining up the fence pieces has proven more challenging than anticipated, but with the announcement of Torosaurus coming back least means there's no rush to the finish line.

Also using cut species to fill in some gaps as well as cut content. Those with eagle eyes might spot one of these.

Getting a Mac Superdrive External USB Disc drive to run through Bazzite?

Hello,

I've hit a roadblock trying to get a Mac Superdrive working on Bazzite. I have tried a few command lines in the terminal used for Fedora but having absolutely no dice. Does a Bazzite friendly setup line code to even exist for this hardware? I know Apple devices have a tough history with capability, but if a solution has been figured out for other Linux distros then is a Bazzite version possible?

For reference this is the github I went to that has the command lines aforementioned. Thank you.

She doesn't like what she can see...

Was taking snaps of my JPOG build and this individual caught my eye. Have never seen a Dryosaurus look soo judgemental before ...

WIP Operation Genesis Style Park.

Flattened map by Assest87 (0H8-TXV-WWS): https://www.jurassicworldevolution.com/3/workshop/item/7591260420531629850

Wanted to start work on something more simplistic after 2 detail intense maps almost back to back. And you can't get any more simple than Operation Genesis. It's not a complete 1:1 replica of a JPOG park design as some modern architecture is involved, but the overall look should ultimately remain familiar with veterans of the JP classic.

We just need Ouranosaurus announced already, lol. That's the only missing member I care about as it stands. The rest can be replaced with species originally cut from JPOG like Diplodocus and Iguanodon.

What is the best overall recreation of Jurassic World (2015) on the Workshop?

I ask because there's a whole plethora of them and ratings aren't always the best indicator. So in your opinion which is the best map recreation of said park? Thank you.
