Stumbled Upon Greatness

Stumbled Upon Greatness

I have fairly coarse, dry 2A hair that can never be left down unless I straighten it, because it's a hot chaotic mess. I stumbled upon this Kracie Ichikami Premium Hair Treatment Mask and I am low key obsessed. I'm now stalking my local Winners to see if they put anymore out... 👀

I find that most hair masks feel so soft immediately after use and then by the next day, my hair is back to its usual dry, unruly self. The first time I used this mask, I left my hair down for two days without straightening it and it behaved itself and remained so soft and shiny. It was like night and day from my usual.

Canadian Company?

I've been looking into reusable silicone eye patches and this set came up on Amazon. It says they are a Canadian company (Beauty by MCC) and that they are made in Canada. It looks like the company registered their business in spring 2026, only has one product and only sells on Amazon. Have any of you heard of the company, or tried these?

Purge?

I've started a gradual, gentle introduction to retinol this past week. I've used the Ceravue purple retinol lotion twice in the last two weeks, including last night. I woke up this AM and have some colorless and red small bumps. Is this just purge?

Help me add to my routine!

42 year old starting a skincare routine for the first time. Plan is to start with the basics (cleanse, moisturize, sunscreen) and then add some actives in gradually (Vit C and a retinoid). In the past when I've tried to start, I've started too many things at once, had bad break outs and just stopped everything.

I'm looking for a rec for a lighter daily moisturizer to use before sunscreen, and a more hydrating night time lotion.

Also, what is the benefit to a double cleanse? And what are your favorite oil cleansers if you do a double cleanse?

Thanks! :)

Need Help Starting a Routine

I'm a 42 year old who has never had a skincare routine 😬. Over the past couple of years, I've noticed my skin changing-- duller, tired, age spots and wrinkles. While I can't go back in time and tell my 20-year-old self to take better care of her skin, I'd like to start some healthy habits now!

I'm so overwhelmed with where to start and what to consider. My reading tells me I should have an AM routine (cleanser, Vit C,? moisturizer, sunscreen) and PM routine (cleanser, moisturizer,? peptides) at the most basic level.

Any suggestions to get me going? Prefer OTC/store bought right now.
