Seeking Advice: Trading Black Ceramic Date SMP for Aluminum No Date SMP

Hi all,

I am thinking of trading my black ceramic SMP for the no date aluminum SMP. I would appreciate any insights on ownership from anyone that’s had the privilege of owning and wearing both models.

The draw for me is the small-wave dial and the (perhaps misguided) romantic idea of the aluminum bezel aging with the wearer.

I am curious about:

  1. issues with legibility of the no-date variant at different angles given the domed sapphire crystal

  2. whether the added thickness is meaningfully impactful

  3. Bezel play in the aluminum bezel. A NTTD model I owned had a little back-play in the bezel that I didn’t love, but having tried others’ models, the bezel has been sharp.

Will Daniel Craig remain an Omega ambassador?

Do we think that Daniel Craig will continue to be an Omega ambassador (akin to George Clooney) after a new actor has taken the role of James Bond?

I am of two minds on this. On one level, Daniel Craig has been an excellent ambassador for Omega beyond Bond. He sports Omega models in roles and appearances post-Bond, helps not-so-quietly tease new models, and overall represents a great face and love for the brand.

On the other hand, having both Daniel and the other Bond actor both be “Omega ambassadors” could create consumer confusion and redundancy as to who James Bond is portrayed by. For example, after Daniel replaced Pierce Brosnan for the role, I do not believe there was any further marketing with Pierce with Omega.

Significance of Playing Cards?

Does anyone know the significance or meaning behind the playing cards? Specifically, what does “ober“, “shields,” “acorns,” ”roses,” “bells, etc. mean? Would be cool to be able to purchase a full deck of playing cards for IOI.

Recommendation for Used Digital Leica?

Hello - I’m seeking a recommendation for a secondhand digital Leica camera. I would prefer something that can be as easy as a point-and-shoot, easy to fit into and pull out of a pocket.

The recommendation I am seeing is either a D-Lux 7 or the Q (Typ 116). Also would love to know where you all would recommend purchasing a used model.

Many thanks!

Sneakers for wide feet?

Loved collecting lots of Nike’s and Jordan’s over the years, but as I’ve gotten older and feet have gotten wider, I’ve had to pass them down to my nephews. NIke doesn’t really produce their better looking sneakers in a wide feet.

What cool sneakers are there for wider feet? New Balance seems to be the most wide-foot friendly.
