Hey guys, I'm trying to fix a Sony DCR-VX1000 but I'm hit with a combo of issues. The viewfinder is completely black. I visually inspected the ribbon cable and it doesn't look broken or torn at all, but I’m still hesitating to just buy a replacement anyway in case it's failed internally. On top of that, the tape deck is completely dead silent and won't eject. When I press Eject, I only hear a slight movement from the lens initializing, but absolutely no motor or mechanical noise from the deck itself. To make things worse, I just tried plugging the camera into my TV using RCA cables, but the TV detects absolutely no signal.
Does this complete lack of video output and dead tape deck mean I'm dealing with a blown SMD fuse or a dead main board, or could a hidden short circuit in the viewfinder ribbon cable be causing all of this? Would appreciate any insight before I start buying parts!

Hi guys, I have an issue with my FX7. It records without any issues, but when I want to play back or import the footage onto my PC using a FireWire connection, I just get a blue screen on both the camcorder and the PC. I tried cleaning the head using a cleaning tape, but it didn’t do anything. Do you have any idea what could be causing this?
