Looking to see if anyone has made one of these and what hardware I would need aside from the MDF. $500 feels a bit steep for a few rails and some MDF, so I'd like to make it myself if possible. I'd appreciate some tips, or if someone has a link to a similar build!

Replacing Ecowater Softener, any suggestions under $500?

Currently have a rented softener from Ecowater that they want $1200 to buy out or continue to rent for $30/month, which seems absurd. I'd prefer to buy one around the $500 range and would appreciate some opinions. I'd also like to know if the install would be easy considering we already have one hooked up. Any specialty tools required?

We just have 1 1/2 baths, so I don't think we need a huge one.

Quick fix for this?

New home owner issues... There's a lot of shoddy work I'm finding around this place. They've got a vent placed here, but they literally just cut a hole in the duct board and placed a loose piece of metal duct around it that's grossly undersized. It's not secured in any fashion.

At some point when I can afford it I'll have the whole duct system replaced, but would like some opinions on how to fix this temporarily.

Ideally I would like to keep the vent operational for now, but I've got aluminum tape I can use to cover the hole if needed. My second thought was to tape around the undersized metal duct and secure it to the duct board and basically fashion a makeshift duct to atleast prevent most of the air leaking out.

I'd appreciate some opinions and see what you guys think.

Any idea what this is for?

Looking to add a spigot to the front and back of the house and saw this valve attached to the line. I'm wondering if I can use it to run the spigot, instead of tapping into a line elsewhere.

This can't be safe right?

I was going around vacuuming all of the debris from my air registers and noticed on a couple of them that there is insulation on the bottom. I know very little about HVAC systems, so I'm hoping this is some sort of special fiberglass free insulation, but I have a bad feeling this isn't the case... Would appreciate some professional opinions on this!

Wife says she was washing her hair and saw bubbles and hair coming from the bottom right of this plate. Any idea what would cause this? I took the plate off and couldn't really see much. There was a seal on the back of the plate though.

The faucet was quite loose as well. I've tightened it up against the wall as much as I could without feeling like I was going to break a tile.. I plan on caulking everything, but I want to be sure I take care of any potential leak first. I don't know a whole lot about plumbing, but I would like to learn how to fix this.
