Being Super Morbidly Obese Has Ruined my Romantic Life

I’ve only ever been in one romantic relationship in my whole life. It only lasted eight months, and the entire time, the guy would talk about how unattractive he found my body. He would talk about how I needed to lose weight and say that if I didn’t lose weight by the time we wanted to have kids, he would want to use a surrogate because he didn’t want to risk having fat kids.

He even tried on several occasions to order appetite suppressants for me after I had already said no, and he tried to give me some for my birthday. I had never been so insulted, especially because he had made such a big deal about not wanting to get me anything because he didn’t have the money. His mom would also comment on my weight and say that his brother and dad would never be able to accept someone who was fat. To make things worse, he would go on about how his extended family and friends wouldn’t like me because I’m fat and that they would probably assume I was dumb because of my weight.

I think the worst part, though, is that even months after I broke up with him, I still feel like he was the only guy in the world willing to give me a chance and look past my weight. I’m 26, and I’ve never been in another relationship. I can’t help but feel like it really is because I’m so fat. The whole time I was dating him, I was trying so hard to diet. I would go the entire day without eating, then go home starving and eat a bunch. It really was a vicious cycle, but at the time, I would’ve done anything to keep myself in a relationship.

I’m really worried that I’ll never find someone who will actually love me and that no one will ever be able to look past my weight. Are there many people here who have successful relationships? I’m hoping to find some encouragement.

I am focusing on myself!

I’m trying to focus less on finding a romantic relationship and more on doing things that make me feel good about myself. I’ve been wearing my hair down more often, and I feel good about myself when I let my natural curls out. I’ve also been experimenting more with fashion, and so far, it’s turned out really well for me. As a fat woman, it can be hard to step outside of my comfort zone when it comes to fashion, but my goal is simply to wear things that make me feel nice. I’ve even been trying to eat better and drink more water.

I’ve realized that when I stop focusing so much on finding a man and start focusing on myself, I feel better. I’m less sad, and I don’t feel as lonely. I still want a romantic relationship, but I’m starting to accept that when it happens, it happens. And if it doesn’t, that’s okay too. For now, I’m going to keep focusing on myself, doing things that make me happy, and becoming a better version of myself.

I’m not sure if anyone has had success with something similar long term, but I certainly hope I can continue to keep the loneliness and desperation away.

Any other Forever Alone Women play Fortnite?

Does anyone here play Fortnite? I’m not sure if this is allowed, but I wanted to see if anyone else here plays Fortnite.

I’m in a few Facebook groups for women who play Fortnite. The only problem is that a lot of those women are in relationships and usually play with their significant others. I don’t mind that, and I don’t think I’d get jealous, but it can be incredibly awkward playing with a couple because they often end up running off and leaving the third or fourth person behind.

I’m 25, and I mostly play Zero Build and some of the other minigames that are offered. Right now, I’m trying to find all of the sprites in-game. I’m also on a break from work, so I have a ton of free time and have realized just how alone I am on the game.
I actually used to have a duo partner, but she got into a relationship. I had originally hoped we could play as a trio, but I quickly realized that wasn’t going to happen because she stopped inviting me and rarely joined when I invited her.

I was hoping there might be another FAW here who would be interested in talking and maybe eventually playing together. We don’t have to use mics or anything if we aren’t comfortable with that yet.

Honestly, I’m just looking for friends and would love to have a Fortnite buddy again.

I’m terrified that a future boyfriend would leave me for my sister

My sister is older than I am, but she looks very youthful. My sister is also gorgeous, and I’ve always known that because even if she’s just walking around the convenience store in pajamas with no makeup on, people still compliment her. She’s never had a problem getting male attention, and she’s now married with two kids.

One of my biggest fears when it comes to eventually finding a romantic partner is that my partner will see my sister and try to leave me because he’d rather have an unlikely shot with her than have to settle for me. I know my sister would never cheat on her husband like that, and she likely wouldn’t do something like that to me either, but I’ve always had this fear that if I get a future boyfriend, he’s going to immediately fall for my sister.

I love my sister dearly, and I don’t have any ill feelings toward her, but it’s always in the back of my mind that she’s the prettier, more charismatic sister that everyone seems to like better. It also doesn’t help that, since we’re half-sisters, she hasn’t had to deal with some of the unfortunate traits I inherited from my dad, like my body shape and the way I carry fat.

Has anyone else experienced feelings similar to this? If so, how did you cope?

25F F4M- Oklahoma, US — Feminine woman looking for her forever person

About me:

I live in rural America and work as a middle school ELA teacher. I’m 25, Christian, feminine, and fairly traditional in the way I approach life and relationships. My faith is very important to me, although I’m not the type to force my beliefs onto other people. I’ve only ever been on one date, so I definitely consider myself to be inexperienced.

I don’t drink, smoke, party, or live a super fast-paced lifestyle. I honestly enjoy a quieter and more domestic life. Most of my time goes toward my career and my family. My job is a pink collar job and allows me to embrace my nurturing side.

Physically, I’m 5’3”, overweight, with curly brown hair and blue eyes. I wear glasses and rotate between a few different pairs. I also pretty much exclusively wear dresses and skirts when I go out because I enjoy presenting myself in a more feminine way. I am working on losing weight!

I’m well established in life. I own my home, have a stable career, and plan on staying at my current job for at least the next few years, as long as I’m single and not dedicated to a husband.

Personality-wise, I’m usually described as sweet, caring, nurturing, and easy to talk to. I genuinely enjoy taking care of the people I love and being emotionally supportive. Of course I have bad days like anyone else, but I tend to either talk things out or move on pretty quickly. I love laughing, having long conversations, and talking deeply about basically anything. I can also be a little immature sometimes because I still love stuffed animals and tend to collect them.

What I’m looking for is something genuine and long term. I want marriage someday and I really want to be a loving wife and eventually a mother. I’m not interested in hookups, casual relationships, or playing games with people. I want a relationship where we are genuinely close, loyal to each other, and building a peaceful life together. I want someone I can support, grow alongside, laugh with daily, and come home to at the end of the day.

As far as attraction goes, I’m honestly not super picky about appearance. Personality matters much more to me. I’m drawn to men who are kind, emotionally mature, dependable, protective, and confident in themselves. I really value a man who can communicate well because I love deep conversations and emotional closeness. I am open to a long distance relationship.

My faith heavily influences my values and the way I approach life. I value honesty, loyalty, commitment, family, modesty, and building a stable and loving home more than partying or constantly chasing excitement.

▲ 542 r/Teachers

I attended this conference outside of my district for some extra PD, and it was supposed to be about managing really difficult students as a first-year teacher. One of the other attendees told a story to the speaker about a student in her gen ed ELA class who would not work or write any essays. She said she had given him outlines and templates to help him understand, but he still refused to do the work and said it was too hard to write. She also mentioned that she had tried working with him on the essays, but again, he said they were too difficult. The teacher added that she thought he was just being lazy and didn’t want to write essays since his other work showed he was capable of performing on level in ELA.

The speaker at the conference told the teacher she wasn’t doing enough and said it’s impossible for a student to become reliant on outlines. The speaker then went on to say that the teacher needed to “use more AI” and use AI to generate an example essay for the student, or show him how to do that so he could generate his own example essay.

I mentally checked out right then. I couldn’t believe they had a speaker telling a conference room full of first-year teachers to have kids and teens use AI.
