34M - 2 years living in Canada, looking to meet more people!

Hey! My wife, our dog, and I moved to Vancouver about 2.5 years ago. Vancouver is such a cool place, and I recently realized I should probably meet more people outside of my usual bubble.

I’m a 9-to-5 guy working downtown, with a couple of side hustles keeping me busy. I also recently became a dad, so a lot of my time these days is spent taking care of the family. I play guitar and love photography.

Still, I’d love to meet new people, hear about their lives, what they do, and understand different walks of life. Always keen for a casual chat, and if we vibe and feel comfortable, maybe grab a coffee sometime!

Full time employees + side hustlers: do you register your side hustle?

Looking for advice here. I worked multiple jobs last year, 1 was self employeed teaching gig at a college. I earned 7k and got taxed 2k.

I'm starting a new side hustle now (videography) and wondering if the tax write-off is worth it, knowing that I will be put in a higher tax bracket because of my full-time job earnings as well.

added context: im not getting much traction yet. its a question about 'when' to incorporate instead of 'if' i should ever incorporate.

Wedding photographers: how did you build your portfolio before you started charging?

I’m working on my photography portfolio and would like to add a real wedding before I begin offering paid wedding photography.

How did you find your first couple? Did you second-shoot for another photographer, photograph a small wedding for free, or build your portfolio through styled shoots?

I’m considering offering one complimentary wedding around Burnaby, with only transportation and parking covered if it’s farther away. I’d appreciate hearing what worked for other photographers and what you would recommend.
