Details of 9mm guns coming to Canadian Markets

Semi Auto (R9C coming in Nov-Dec)

  • RCMP accepts that R9 is not a variant of AR-15 (DUH!)
  • BUT because SRI shipped R9 recievers to US for use in machine pistols, RCMP thinks it is ... a pistol... Go figure! LOL!
  • New variant of original R9 called R9C is coming in Nov-Dec, which is incompatible with whatever they ship in US. It will get new FRT.
  • People having R9 Prohib will be able to ship their gun to SRI (cost borne by owners) to convert to new R9C which will be NR.

Lever Action

  • New lever action coming in the same time frame in 9mm
  • Will have barrel of 10inch and 14inch
  • Glock Mag
  • Will allow customization
  • Price should be less than 1500 CDN (Ouch!)
  • Later they will add 10 mm and 45ACP, already shipping in USA
  • They want to add a proprietary mag later. Becuase I guess Glock ones will be restricted to 10. So we may get a level action with detachable mag having more than 10 capacity.

Can it be done? Can we get new decent subcompact PCC models?

Is it possible .... to build a Canada legal TP-9 like errr PCC from first principle? Just throwing a basic idea in the wind. Not by a lay person but by a legal business licensed to make firearms.

We know Glock and its internal parts are dime a dozen (not literally but you get my drift!).

Barrel assembly, trigger/ trigger groups, recoil springs, buffers, springs, locking block and even entire upper slide.

And actual receiver is essentially polymer frame. I mean there are such companies like Polymer 80 that make such 100% polymer frames. The frame as such is basically cavity and holes to support these components. So.... why not have that cavity intact and just add a butt stock (as in the mold) for what essentially is a handgun design into a .... sub compact carbine not matching anything on market externally. the slide can still "slide" on rails, heck may be cover by a shroud.

Rest everything is essentially... in same place as a glock.

Heck, while we are at it, we can have a unique mag/magwell design (just some mechanical incompatiability with general glock mag well) and have mags with just 5 rounds. Like add slots/notch to avoid any other mag from fitting in.

And here is the kicker part. Since this is going to be a Canada only madness and not in massive numbers, so make it using additive manufacturing process which does not require committing to make molds etc. The equipment are flexible and reuseable. Just slow. But then Canada is a small market. You can actually do a "build on order" model. There are fibres that can hold for pretty decent. Like PEEK. Heck... offer a service that if you crack and break your frame, they can send you a new frame if you return old broken/cracked frame. I mean there are such things like FGC-9. Those guys are using much much worse fibres (PLA etc) and materials. You can use better fibres and structural material. Like PEEK, Nylon+CF+GF... the list is endless... to actually make the frame as strong as polymer frames from Glock.

And when and if Horsie or Lie-be-reals ban it. Just make cosmetic changes to the damn design while keeping the cavity intact.

I believe... you can even have specialized AI models that can actually let you to customize the asthetics / "looks" of firearm, without actually messing up the structural integrity of the frame.

Let horsie ban it... send the new model for classification and validation the next day and launch it once it is done. Or sent 10. And launch as you need. One by one. May be next day to horsie ban.

TL;DR:

  1. Make your PCC models recievers a moving target for Horsie to ban.
  2. Reuse ALL of Glock internals. Basically put Glock in a PCC body.
  3. Use additive manufacturing methods and produce polymer frame on-demand to minimize capital tie up.
  4. Supply mags with 5 shots only. That will bypass the new design ban. Make mags/mag-well slightly incompatible with existing models.

Can it even work? u/SpectreBallistics ?

PS: Apologies if I made a very stupid lay-person mistake.

Did any one recently updated their handgun registration?

Did anyone recently (after handgun freeze) update their handgun registration? Like changing the calibre?

Did it work out? Did you get new caliber registration?

Why does this sub allow slurs like "Mainlanders" and "FoBs" to be used and that too so casually in conversation?

I have seen these terms being thrown around here so casually. Is this typical terminology used by Abroad born Desis or is it an online thing only?

The reason I ask this normalizes slurs that are handed down from whites. Especially "FoBs".

Is using term "recent immigrants" that hard?

Is using term "India born/raised" or "NRI" or simply "Indian national" that hard to use?

And honestly, I do not even see why do folks here use terms like Mainlander. You guys are not fukken living on some kind of island off the coast of India!

Is picking-up slurs from Taiwanese or Hong Kongers so cool?

To me it feels very Pick-Me kind of behavior, adapting slurs from others to seek entry into their social group. I doubt it is necessary.

Will this work for getting exemption for Olympic Shooting discipline?

So here is the process. WILL IT WORK???? Can any one knowledgeable tell me where it can go wrong?

  1. Buy and import a complete OEM 100% Glock 19 Gen3 frame from USA via a Canadian Gunsmith business/shop. This should come with its own serial number etc. Eg (https://pistolframes.com/product/glock-19-gen-3-oem-frame/). Till your transfer is approved it will be in control of the GunSmith/dealer and registered on their business. The reason for going for frame is because Frames by design do not have the caliber (check FRT, it does not have caliber for frames). So your final firearm is not going to be a converted one but one that began its life as a 22LR.
  2. Get Advantage Arms Glock 22lr conversion kit, which should not be troublesome as it is not even a firearm.
  3. Provide it to the gunsmith above and let them complete the firearm. It will be a Glock 19 Gen 3 in 22LR (FRT calls them Non Commercial Customization). Business should register it as such.
  4. Get an olympic exemption letter quoting Make/Model as Glock 19 Gen3 in 22LR. Quote FRT entry too. (This is the most doubtful step... will they issue?). Before requesting ensure you have joined say SFC or BC-equivalent or a pistol club etc.
  5. Once you have olympic exemption letter initiate the transfer to your name. RCMP will ask for exemption letter, show them the letter.
  6. Once transfer is complete, take possession of the firearm.

Congrats! Now you Glock 19 Gen 3 in 22LR. Enjoy your firearm and practice hard for competitive shooting!

Why no one is making a new PCC in 22WMR in Canada?

Last I checked:

  • 22WMR is not limited by new semi auto design ban.
  • 22WMR is not limited by mag capacity.
  • 22WMR is a hell lot fun to shoot.
  • 22WMR is actually useful in small game hunting.
  • 22WMR PCC will be actually useful in competition.
  • 22WMR is incredible economical to shoot as well.
  • 22WMR can be made in really compact and light form factor for fun and for work (hunting).

So why is no one making new PCCs in that caliber and ammo in Canada?

Hello? MRA? Kodiak? anyone?

Insane antique gun cross-plant and restoration. How to reproduce it?

Someone (in CGN) took a busted Webley MKII frame and MKVI cylinder and barrel assembly and made this unholy Webley MKII***. It has MKVI Cylinder and barrel assembly so it can withstand nitro-based ammo (or at the very least a cordite alternative) and since frame is the gun so it is fully legal and antique. To top it all, they got new grip made locally.

They also made speed loaders using .410 speed loaders with central post removed.

I also wish to do the same and have some doubts. Can someone with knowledge in antique restoration help me with following questions?

  1. They mentioned they used part of MKVI cylinder cam system. Can someone elucidate what it will amount to? I believe they had to put the cam that rotates cylinder from MKVI to MKII.

  2. They mentioned they had to cut new forcing cone and CNC a new ratchet star. Why will a new forcing cone be required? I thought forcing cones forces bullet from cylinder into barrel. That should be a part of barrel assembly, right?

  3. Also CNC a new ratchet star. Thats for timing and extraction, right? so they had to make a new one. That sounds a bit worrying. Because it controls timing.. Has anyone here done something similar and what was your experience?

I tried communicating with them but they are maintaining radio silence. Perhaps for a good reason.
