Why are we paying full 4th-year fees when we barely have classes?

In our 4th year, we only have regular classes during the 7th semester. In the 8th semester, there are basically no classes. We don't even have exams. The only academic requirement is to complete and submit our major project/report.

Despite that, we're being charged around ₹2.6 lakh for the final year.

For many students and their families, this is a significant financial burden. If there are no regular classes or exams in the final semester, shouldn't the fees be reduced accordingly? At the very least, there should be a transparent breakdown explaining what we're paying for.

Can we request 75% attendance instead of 85%?

Is anyone else finding the 85% attendance requirement too strict? Most colleges have 75%, and it feels much more reasonable. Since we're already paying full tuition, should we collectively request the administration to reduce the minimum attendance to 75% or at least provide more flexibility? Curious to know what everyone thinks.

3rd years assemble

I understand the purpose of a placement assessment test, but honestly, the way this one was conducted feels completely unfair. Many of us never received any aptitude training beforehand, yet we were expected to perform well in an aptitude-heavy assessment. That's one issue. On top of that, some of the coding questions were far more complex than what many students were prepared for.

If the goal is to filter candidates specifically for software development and coding roles, then testing aptitude and programming skills makes sense. But not everyone is aiming for coding jobs. Students interested in networking, cybersecurity, project management, business analysis, or other non-coding career paths are being judged by criteria that have little relevance to their chosen fields.

This makes the filtering process feel arbitrary and poorly designed. A single test focused on aptitude and coding should not be used as a blanket measure of employability across multiple domains.

Another thing that needs to be said is the attitude of the placement department. We pay substantial fees to this institution. Helping students secure opportunities is part of the department's responsibility, not a personal favor they're doing for us. Yet many interactions make it feel as though students should be grateful for basic support and services that are already part of what the college promises to provide.

Students are not asking for special treatment. We're asking for a fair process, proper preparation, and a little professionalism and respect. That's not an unreasonable expectation.

Mangalore’s most abandoned and haunted places nobody dares to explore?

Anyone know any genuinely creepy or abandoned places around Mangalore? Me and a few friends wanna explore places with spooky vibes abandoned houses, empty buildings, old ruins, weird roads, anything that feels unsettling or haunted Not looking for tourist spots or fake stories, just hidden places locals avoid or don’t really talk about. Would love recommendations or creepy experiences if you have any

Need secluded spots for “deep conversations” and absolutely nothing else 👀

Mangalore really isn’t the same anymore 😭 Every old “peaceful” spot is now crowded 24/7. Helipad? Packed. Lobo’s river view? Basically a public event now. Need new lowkey secluded spots where two people can sit peacefully, listen to music, stare at mountains, and definitely only discuss life goals nothing else
