Consoles will also become a thing of the past

I was wondering if you're excited about the possibility of Playstation going to the streaming/mobile market. If we look not too far into the future, consoles won't have a place. Consoles cost a lot of money, even more than discs. Everybody has a smart phone and mobile gaming has already surpassed console gaming by a lot. And it's only the beginning.

I think people have overlooked this. There won't consoles in the future. It will save the companies a lot of money. And where is the market heading? Is it consoles? Or is it mobile, cloud gaming? Let's be honest with ourselves.

Sony wasn't too worried about the cost of discs or competing against the secondary market. They have a much bigger vision. The console market is already half of the mobile market. I think from a business perspective, the consoles don't even make sense anymore, if the goal is money. You will be able to do everything on the cloud that you can do with a digital console. But the difference is the company saves an immense amount of money.

Are you excited about cloud gaming on the app? Maybe we get new controllers still.

Can someone explain to me if Playstation is popular?

So I'm looking at the numbers and if I'm not mistaking, whether or not Playstation or Sony makes money doesn't change the fact that it's getting beat in many different sales and user categories. And the problem is people will just say Sony is not competing against them. Well, yea if they're losing the battles, of course you can say that.

But according to Google, The Switch outsold the PS5 by over 60 million units or so? And it doesn't matter if we're talking disc consoles or digital consoles. And most people that play Nintendo are children. So how is PS5 selling well? They aren't selling nearly as well as the PS2 and the PS2 sold well mostly because of DVDS. Now you could make the argument that the Switch has been around a bit longer, but considering how the Wii U failed, that's a pretty significant comeback to be number 2 of all time.

And according to Google, more people play on Steam than Playstation. I mean, I don't care if you say they aren't competing, to some degree they are if you're serious. You can't just outright omit every platform that is getting higher numbers. I mean this is telling.

And then mobile gaming is much more popular than Playstation according to Google. So if you look at it from my perspective, Playstation seems to be more toward the bottom. And if PS6 sells even less, then what does that tell you? I guess I'm gonna get a bunch of posts that give me alternative numbers and different ways to look at this.

So I don't understand when people talk about Playstations financials as a success. I'm not gonna spend their money, I don't work for them. I'm just saying in terms of popularity in the gaming community as a whole, I don't see it. Where do they fit in?
