I did a rant on a comment and figured I should just make a post

The biggest issue with embark and their newest catagory of BMC is we don't know which of the 40+ lines of BMC they used for their model.. I've asked they didn't answer. I have to assume it's a ladner. No other cur no matter if it's foundation stock, weatherford Ben, Florida cracker, any of the 100lb + Texas cattle types or any other type of real BMC will come back as BMC on an embark test. They can detect one type of black mouth cur and everybody is putting the focus on only that. This whole you don't have cur unless it tests positive is just absolutely false it's actually kind of ridiculous the way this sub has gotten. Almost nobody understands genetics in here and those are the loudest of all and nastiest (kinda reflects everything in society rn). My boy is from a family in Indiana on a farm that had them in their family for 90ish years now. His test is wildly close to my older girl who was suspected half BMC 6 years ago on the doggy DNA sub. And that's because they're from the same region in the country. They have a similar background. These dogs have been incrossed so many times that their genes are homozygous for this area.

There are many, many types of curs that will be outcrossed to other hound dogs and stuff if they're Superior hunting dogs. Without a thought. Many of these dogs are kept in families for hundreds of years throughout different parts of the country and they're all regionally different from each other. They've adapted differently. They do different things. Some are squirrel dogs. Some are cattle dogs. Some hog dogs, Some are homestead protection dogs, some are just general protection dogs. Every one of these dogs will test different from each other. They'll be made up of a different mix. Cur literally means mixed blood. We still have to assume that just as before if a test that shows some sort of pitbull /Mastiff type showing with a mix of hounds usually Southern hounds and herding breeds. Oftentimes you'll see things like chow chows show up in the mix because that's the closest thing that embark can grab a hold of that is part of the native American dogs that are in the distant past of these bmcs. East Asian dogs share genetic similarities to the primitive dogs of North America from when the land bridge was there. A lot of these Eastern spitz breeds are very similar to Northern inuit dogs just because they're distantly related.Black mouth curs are closer to an heirloom than a breed. They vary so much from region to region and family to family. Everybody's saying you just have a pitbull is probably very very wrong on some of these. not saying that every dog that comes in here is a BMC because that's obviously not true. There's some really really bad examples that come across and often.Wisdom panel used to say in their faq that it will show up as a mix of Pitbull Mastiffs hunting hounds and herding dogs All these are the original foundations that made up Black mouth curves to begin with and still some of these families will outcross to other dogs that aren't curves and then back cross them into their own lines.

These DNA tests aren't 100% perfect. It's still based on an algorithm. Trying to figure out what these little teeny teeny tiny bits and pieces are. Once DNA recombines. You can have segments that are just a few chromosomes long and that's why you see in wisdom panel a lot of random noise in their algorithms because some of these further back segments they get shorter and shorter and shorter as every time it gets cut 50% there needs to be a real discussion about what a black mouth cur actually is. It's not just one line. And this sub has gone to a far worse place than it should be. If you want this to be a BMC only sub I recommend figuring out what a BMC is first.

Oliver had a busy day chasing squirrels away

He doesn't like his picture taken when he's trying to rest.

It's mainly stuff I like. Nothing terribly special.

the lineages are....

Sunset Sherbet x space queen (CSI Humboldt and mz jill collab)

GSC forum cut x Apollo 13 F4 is from Gonzo Genetics. He used an Apollo 13 from Mandelbrots preservation project. And the male was the Sherbet x space queen. On the mother side of both parents made gelato, and dad side of both is a vortex like plant that used the same dad, but a different Apollo 13.

Black Mimosa is from dirty bird genetics and it is their Black Phoenix (dbg the brunch f1 (Peanut butter breath x Mimosa)x solfire Bahama mama) and was pollinated by a symbiotic mimosa.

Vortex f3 Apollo 13 type was from Groundbreaking Genetics. They are friends of mine and did a vortex preservation project. I'm very sentimental about Vortex, it was the first strain I grew years ago that I had a name to the seeds. They've segregated two lines at F3 one is the candy mango, the other is the Apollo 13 type. They will be putting them back together at around F7 for a recombinant inbred line. It was pollinated by a Hoku seed co Monster Blood (Chem Spill #1 x Dirty Taxi

GTR Seeds: Chem Spill (Triangle Kush/Chem D x AVL)

x

Top Dawg Seeds: Dirty Taxi (GMO x Chem/i95)

The Corpse Cake is also from Hoku.

Corpse Cake (Ice Cream Cake "Archive Cut" x Corpse Flower) Seed Junky Genetics: Ice Cream Cake (Wedding Cake x Gelato 33) x The Nature Farm: Corpse Flower (90’s Super Skunk x Uncle Festers Skunk#18 ‘SkunkBud’)

The Hawaiian Unicorn is from Thug Pug and it is a sagramatha seeds Hawaiian Punch x Unicorn Poop. Stellar strain and I can't wait to get into the F2s.

The Hawaiian Skunch and Maui Wowi were from Dirty Bird. The Maui Wowi squared is an S1 of a Sticky fingers seeds Maui Wowi 2.0 and was sourced from a 50+ year old family heirloom from Maui. They've only run it for seed 3 times since the 70s. That was pollinated by his Maui True Blood.

The Hawaiian Skunch is also from dirty bird Skunch ( ethos skunk hero rbx x dirty bird the brunch (peanut butter breath x Mimosa) and was pollinated by the Maui Wowi 2.0.

That should cover my glossary lol
