Is a mid-30’s pivot possible

I’m currently working a dead-end job that’s good experience. It’s full time and before this I was freelance/selfemployed. I work in English and have a working c1 in German, and I’m doing my degree in AI in Business to be able to pivot better, with more tools and experience. My question is- is it possible to change career fields so drastically, as it’s not just about the industry, it’s the working style, the hours and the ability to work from home that I’m making the change for, and the language. I’ll be 3 semesters into my degree and I’d really like to have control of my time again as a single mom. Any tips?

Paperwork struggles

I’ve been working in Germany a while now and I have a c1, and a reasonable grasp of the language. Recently I started a new job that sits on the middle line between fully-employed and freelance, in the sense I have to engage with “Behörde” on my own. I feel totally overwhelmed and just want to hide in my house. I’m absolutely drowning in bureaucracy and paperwork. It’s like playing a lifelong game of whack-a-mole, once one process ends, another starts. I feel like I’m starting to lose my mind…. ☹️ help

LPT -job interviews

what do you use to help with interviews in a different language? Asking friends to help practice isn’t usually specific enough if they don’t speak well and aren’t in the same field. I have a c1 in german and I’m interested in preparing myself.

North vs South vs East vs West

What's the deal with the different dialects in Germany? I've noticed a looot of northern Germans look down on people with a Bavarian accent, but seemingly everyone looks down on the eastern German accent? Just curious about the general opinion on pronunciation being superior, as a foreigner. I have a c1 in German but learnt in Munich where there’s some but little Bavarian, but travelled to most of Germany. Correct me if I’m wrong pls

Curious to know if you as a native German speaker can differentiate the way you pronounce SH-ips 🚢 and if it sounds the same as CH-ips 🍟 ??

Reason is my boyfriend pronounces both the exact same way… Ships, Chips, Relationships, all the same 😂 it this a Him thing or a General thing because of this specific “zischlaut”

I just started feeling like I'm getting ahead in learning German by practicing everyday, and then my seven yo German kid comes home and calls me Digga. Not sure whether I feel old or out of touch as a millennial who grew up in South Africa😂 language learning is one thing but learning slang from Gen Z/Gen Alpha is something else. Don't even get me started on Six seven…

I thought I’d have years before the Mama-mummy-mum-bro pipeline 🙈

Parents out there-what am I heading towards??

So I’ve been practicing a while now and while I was fairly confident in my German speaking, I often mix it with English as I live in Munich where slipping in and out of the language doesn’t raise eyebrows.

Last week I was invited to dinner with my boyfriend’s mother while visiting Bremen, who I really tried to impress and managed to maintain the whole conversation in German. It was tough! She speaks quite precisely and doesn’t change to English (not that I need her to) so I was SWEATING to do my best.

Is it just me or is it harder to speak well when you’re actively trying not to make mistakes in a language?? I found myself forgetting the ends of my sentences 🙈 I need to keep up with my level of German as well, as she now writes to me every other day, and it would be obvious if I used ChatGPT 😂 I definitely felt the pressure to keep up with the conversation 🤭

Would be interested to know😂 I am exploring other language-learning pathways like thru song lyrics but as most of these are romantic it got me wondering…
