Hello everyone ! I’m making this post because i wanted to discuss something with y’all artists or writer about the industry. Recently i tried really hard to be a social media artist and to follow trends to make more views, to do fanarts so i catch people’s attention or what so ever. After years of failing on social media i realized something about this industry, nowadays, to be a published and seen artist, you’ll need to build a community, to build a community you have to do certain works that’ll catch people’s eyes so they can like your work and boost you on the algorithm, if you fail that process, you’ll be a forgotten artist and insta or any other social, will make you disappear… then if you try to submit your work to publishers, you’ll get ignored because you’re a nobody, So even though you’d propose the next Akira, Spider-man or Asterix, you’ll be refused because your name and réputation is non existent. I’m not complaining as i never planned to be published (i’ll self publish my books) but it is really sad that we went from guys that would knock on doors and instantely get jobs to seeing greater artists being refused because they just don’t have a big name. I don’t think i draw well or i deserve to be published, but people who are waaaay better than me are still trying and it is absolutely disgunsting. Where is the next generation of artists and writer from all around the world ? Well they’re still at home, practicing, trying hard to make a name for themselves and hoping that they’ll get at least one chance to prove that they have something to show. Man its just horrible and i wish that all of you out there will find a way to make your own thing. My name is Said, i am a manga/comic/bande-dessinée artist and i failed on social media BUT i’ve never been happier ! I put some exemple of my work for when i said that there is people better than these works that don’t get chances to work in the industry.
