How can I connect an iPad to an Allen & Heath CQ-12T for live looping? One USB-C port problem
Hi everyone, little help for an amateur,
I’m trying to set up Loopy Pro for live looping and I’m a bit confused about the audio routing.
My setup is:
- iPad running Loopy Pro
- Allen & Heath CQ-12T mixer
- Didgeridoo mic → CQ-12T
- Guitar → CQ-12T
- I also want a separate microphone → iPad → Loopy Pro for live looping
- Then I want the audio coming from Loopy Pro → CQ-12T → PA
So basically I want:
Didgeridoo + Guitar → CQ-12T
Looping microphone → iPad / Loopy Pro
iPad / Loopy Pro output → CQ-12T → PA
My problem is that the iPad only has one USB-C port.
I don’t understand how I can have the iPad simultaneously:
- Receive audio from a microphone as an input
- Send the Loopy Pro audio back out to the CQ-12T as an output
Is this possible with the CQ-12T?
Do I need a USB-C hub, an audio interface, or some kind of special USB/USB-C connection?
Also, ideally I would like to avoid unnecessary equipment if the CQ-12T itself can handle the routing.
If anyone is using a similar CQ-12T + iPad + Loopy Pro live looping setup, I’d really appreciate a simple explanation of how you have everything connected physically and how you route the inputs/outputs.
Thanks!
