Finally doing a rewatch and omg 😂

I’m on episodes 6 & 7 of season 1 and it’s crazy that this fight is happening.

Renee and Carla fighting over Carla’s bf being a groper (which is crazy that she defends him touching on her friends but hey it was a different time) and the text that followed is insane but their fight contrasting Drita and Karen’s fight about Karen still being obsessed with an ex-bf even though everybody has moved on in life and started families is even crazier.

They don’t make reality tv like this anymore 😂😂

Trying to leave retail and failing

Since graduating college, I’ve been stuck working retail jobs. I got my BS in Public Health, did an internship and everything, but kept getting told I didn’t have enough experience for the jobs in my field and since I can’t afford to go to grad school, I went back to what I know, retail.

Worked at B&BW for 2 years and held a key holder position before I left and decided that since I enjoyed the key holder role, I’d try pivoting to hr until I can find a job in my degree field. I then spent 7 months job hunting before I finally landed a job….at an Amazon Fresh grocery store. I worked there for the past 2 years before they all shut down this January.

I once again started job hunting for jobs outside of retail but when nothing else panned out, I got a job at Walmart. While I am still job hunting, I decided to let the people lead know I was interested in HR and would love to shadow her (a team lead mentioned she did this exact thing at my orientation as she’s trying to get into HR)….nothing came of it lol. I’m still applying to entry level HR jobs, receptionist jobs, admin assistant jobs, etc. but STILL…nothing.

Being stuck in retail when you know you have interest in climbing up the ladder and getting a team lead/manager role sucks. What sucks worse is trying to pivot to another career field when you mostly have retail experience on your resume 😭😭😭

Lease Renewal Situation (Oak Forest, IL)

I’m up for a lease renewal and was sent a notice by the property manager back in late May. The notice said that my rent was going up by $30 and due to being late a rent twice, I was being put on a 3 month probationary lease from August 1st-October 31st and I’ll just have to pay rent on time before resigning a traditional lease that starts on November 1st. I notified her the same day I got the notice that I was interested in renewing my lease and later expected to hear from her about coming into the office to sign the new probationary lease and whatnot.

Then, shortly after in early June, I learned that she had quit when going to the office to pick up my pool pass and was met by the new property manager (all of my neighbors found out she quit the exact same way lol). She had been talking about wanting to quit (legit during the signing of my lease year ago) so I’m happy she was finally able to leave, but now I’m stuck and a little confused.

It’s mid July and the new property manager hasn’t reached out to me at all about signing the new probationary lease and I checked the online portal where I pay my rent and see that it’s showing my current rent amount due August 1st, not the new amount. I’ve been checking for emails and/or notices on my front door all week and will continue to for the rest of the month about it but so far there’s been no communication from the new management about my lease renewal.

It’s my first time renting and when I try to look online I don’t see much information about the company who owns my apartment complex automatically renewing leases and whenever I try to go to the office to speak to somebody, the door is locked and nobody answers when I knock.

Rescue Nasal Spray

I woke up having seizures today, 6 to be exact, and while at first I thought they were all auras, I checked my phone and discovered that I recorded myself having an aura that progressed into a focal impaired seizure (my losing consciousness at the end and all). So in the end, 5 auras and 1 focal impaired seizure between 8:30am-1:30pm.

I’m prone to clusters, having had 9 seizures the last time I got triggered last month, and so my neurologist prescribed me rescue nasal medication, 20mg diazepam. Well I called my neurologist office to once again get clarity on how to use it and I just administered the nasal dosages to myself.

Has anybody had to use the nasal dosages and how did you react? I read the paper that came with it and know I could potential expect some discomfort and what not but I’m interested and what else. So far it does sting and it’s like I can feel it behind my face 😭😂.

Starting to get my hours cut

I’m new to Walmart, only worked here 4 months as a full time stocking 2 associate, and I’ve been seeing everybody talk about hours getting cut, including at my store. I just got my schedule and saw that for the week after the 4th July my hours dropped down from 35-37hrs to 25hrs total. Is that typical for hours to drop like that after a holiday?

I do plan on asking to get around 30-35hrs for that week but my coach recently quit and they randomly assigned another department’s coach as ours last minute so I’m not holding my breath 😂

Fashion associates, is it worth it?

I’ a full time employee currently working in the stocking 2 department at my store but due to medical reasons and the need to get off a 2-11pm schedule, I’m trying to transfer departments. Since I work stocking 2, I’m in the back of house all day with the people in fashion and they always talk about needing people because everybody keeps quitting.

They have a shift I’m interested in and I expressed my interest but also I’m at the point where I might also wanna just transfer stores (or even try to transfer over to a Sam’s Club) and I’m wondering if fashion would be worth it. Specifically the hours! Stocking 2 has to unload the truck everyday so I’m always getting hours but I fear they might get cut short if I which departments.

Eternally grateful for my past self

Back in October 2024, at 25, I was diagnosed with adult onset temporal lobe epilepsy after having 2 tonic clonic seizures (1st happened at home in my sleep and the 2nd happened at the hospital which resulted in a weekend stay).

I’m now 27 and currently in the process of job hunting. I have a Bachelor of Public Health degree that I received in 2022 but since I still owed my school money when I graduated, I couldn’t receive my diploma or my transcripts which I needed to apply to grad school to continue my education. I eventually received my diploma and transcripts 2 years later (following the new federal regulations in July 2024) but at that point I decided to focus on trying to get a job with just my bachelors. Now, I haven’t had any luck and pretty much been stuck in retail hell since graduating, but after a few management positions I had decided to pivot to HR if I did end up being stuck in retail. It was recently that I went the extra mile to find a path to go from retail to hr to public health and I’m utilizing all that info during my current job hunt.

It was while I was doing this research that it hit me, I remember almost nothing from college while earning my degree. I remember my internship from senior year and some big assignments, but overall, the 4 years I spent studying public health was not coming back to me. I know TLE directly messes with my memory as I’ve been dealing with memory issues for the past 2 years, but now that I’m deciding to once again start applying to public health related jobs, it hit me that I need to be able to remember my education when a potential employer brings up my bachelor’s degree.

I cried while working on my resume and went through my laptop looking for old documents from assignments or something and couldn’t find anything. I spent the day thinking I had deleted all my old files related to my schooling to save storage space. It wasn’t until just now that I remembered I bought an external hard drive years ago for extra storage and went through my room looking for it. I remember buying it because I ran out of storage on my phone and wanted to save some old pictures, but felt extreme happiness when I plugged it into my laptop and saw that not only did I keep old assignments in word and PowerPoint presentations, I kept old lectures from classes and notes from all 4 years of college 😭😭😭. I saved all of this stuff back in 2023!

I’m eternally grateful that I was thinking ahead and thought about the chance I’d possibly still go to grad school and will need the refresher on my courses because now I can spend some time going through my old notes, assignments, and lectures and feel much more confident applying to jobs.
