Parking Pawl

Hi everyone, I’ve posted before and my issue is getting worse. I want to know if it’s possible to fix.

I have a 2015 TLX with 159k miles on it. Last year i occasionally got the “Transmission Problem apply Parking Brake” problem.

Now it’s coming on almost every time I drive. The worst part is occasionally as I park it won’t let me put the car in Park. Or rather it won’t register it’s in park. I can hear a subtle click as I cycle through the gears. It takes about 20 minutes sometimes of me cycling through gears for it to finally register.

Any thoughts. The error code is related to the parking pawl. Is this fixable? What should I tell a technician? Acura wanted $9k to put a new transmission in, but that was a year ago. I think that’s overkill.

Thank you all!

Correct Financing Rate

In south Florida, I had a sales associate give me an approximate quote using 1.99% instead of 0.9% even though I told them my credit was above 800. Has anyone experienced not getting the 0.9% rate lately? I'm trying to finalize a deal.

Help please? Trying to bring back an oldie!

I’m trying to repair my purple and yellow one I’ve had since childhood. The water got all cloudy and so I thought it would be easy to fix.

I removed the old liquid and kept it aside.

I heated up the wax in a double boiler to get it to homogenize again

I added fresh distilled water, a little table salt, and a drop or two of Costco soap.

My issue is that it’s melting the wax, but it’s not forming blobs and it’s not making the lava. Obviously it’s a density problem, but I’m unsure how much salt to add.

Thanks for any whelp!

Used 2025 deal advice

I was only looking for new 2026 and it was getting increasingly harder to find what I was after. I just came across this beauty…

What do you guys think about the deal?

It’s got 13k miles on it now

They want $68399 OTD inclusive of shipping within the state.

Can’t find DAPP—-or it’s too overpriced!

And if I can the cars are way over priced. I know everyone is going to tell me that I have to have it. I’m thinking I should go to the dealership and try it so I know what I’m giving up.

I also want a certain color combo and climate comfort. Which you think would be easier to find in S Florida.

Transmission issues on 2015 TLX

I’ve got the “Transmission System Problem” that comes up on my drive. When it does, the car doesn’t know if it’s in Park or not and occasionally I have to click through the buttons until it will actually let me select Park. This doesn’t happen every drive, but usually after about 20-25 min in stop and go, it’ll start flashing the “D” and that’s how I know.

Interestingly, I drove highway over 3 hours and it didn’t come on once. Almost made me think it had something to do with the battery because additionally, my stop-start no longer works.

My TLX has 158k miles and is a 2015 SH-AWD.

  1. has anyone else experienced this, what did you do?
  2. is it worth fixing?

Thanks everyone!

Advice on 2026 X5 purchase, good deal or not?

I’m looking for a second opinion before I purchase a 2026 BMW X5 sDrive40i (RWD) in South Florida. I’ve attached the build sheet and finance worksheet and would appreciate some feedback from those who have recently purchased or negotiated an X5.

Vehicle
2026 BMW X5 sDrive40i (RWD)

MSRP: $89,225

Selling Price: $81,225 ($8,000 off MSRP before taxes and fees)

Packages & Options
M Sport Package
M Sport Professional Package
Climate Comfort Package
Premium Package
Driving Assistance Professional Package
Parking Assistance Package

Finance Offer
Down Payment: $20,000
Amount Financed: $69,130.29
60 months: $1,212–$1,242/month (depending on credit tier)
72 months: $1,051–$1,081/month
Fees
Dealer Service Charge: $1,199
Tag Processing: $498
License & Registration: $450
Tag Agency: $398
State Taxes & Fees: $5,351.79

Questions
Is an $8,000 dealer discount on a 2026 X5 considered a strong deal in today’s market?

Are any of these dealer fees excessive or negotiable?

If you were buying this vehicle, what purchase price or out-the-door price would you target?

Is there anything else you would negotiate before signing?

I’m planning to keep this vehicle for several years, so my priority is getting the best overall purchase price rather than simply the lowest monthly payment.

Thanks in advance—I appreciate any insight from those who’ve recently purchased or negotiated a 2026 X5.

Should I do an SDrive or 50e

Been back and forth on this and now 2026s are going to get harder to find. Should I consider the 50e or the sDrive? On one side the plug in hybrid sounds nice, but my garages doesn’t have a fast charger and only has a 110 outlet. I hear it takes forever to charge for only about 35 miles. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Hi everyone,
I’m about to lease a 2026 BMW X5 sDrive40i and would appreciate a sanity check from the community before I sign.

I’m attaching:
The vehicle build sheet
The lease worksheet from the dealer

Brooklyn Grey Metallic
MSRP: $82,075
Options
M Sport Package
M Sport Professional Package
Premium Package
Driving Assistance Pro Package

Dealer is offering a sale price of: $71,075

I’d appreciate feedback on:
Is the selling price competitive?
Is the dealer discount good?
Are there any unnecessary fees or add-ons?
Would you negotiate anything further?
If this were your deal, would you sign it?

Thank you all!
