My grande turned clear
I've had it about a month. It's on a dimmer and out of direct sunlight. I actually like it better clear just thought it was interesting.

The Outdoor Lava lamp!
Not as exciting as I hoped but still cool! I bought dollar store citronella oil which smells nasty so I don't know if a more expensive one would be better or not.
I think for the other two "lamps" I'm going to try to find the wine bottle fairy lights and use those so there's no visible battery pack. Will do another follow up once I get my hands on some of those types of lights.
Looking for lava lamp enthusiasts from Indonesia/Southeast Asia. I've gotten into lava lamps earlier this year and shared stories with my friends. A friend pointed out it was a thing back in the 90s but the trend died down and could not find any sold locally since (at least not massively).
I only have one friend (former seller) who's into lava lamp modifications. So I'm curious if I'll find someone here ❤️
I've had my lamp for a few weeks and I love it, but I have a few questions about it, some curious things happened.
My lamp functions with a 20W bulb, and it works properly for a while, then, after about 3 hours. it heats up too much and all the wax floats up to the surface. Also, there are bubbles inside the wax that I just can't get rid of no matter what.
This are not necessarily the weird things that happened.
My mom knocked my lamp by accident, and the original bulb broke, so I had to replace it with a 25W one, as I couldn't find a 20W, and weirdly enough, now the wax circulates a lot longer, I could let it turned on for hours and hours on end without the wax all heating up and floating to the surface. But now, instead of being goopy and having a "one up, one down" bubble flow, it forms many smaller bubbles that flow pretty rapidly, full of air/water pockets that sometimes merge creating a giant globe of wax and water inside of it.
Should I be concerned? Is it normal? Any advice? Thank you!
Good afternoon,
I bought this 16.3” lava lamp off marketplace for $12… thought it was a steal until I got home and plugged it in. The wax barely started to melt, and i couldn’t get the coil settled on the bottom. The wax was just in a big chunk settled on the bottom with the coil sideways. I tried turning it upside down a few times and stirring it in order to get the coil on the bottom, but it seems the wax separated and is no longer moving. I replaced the bulb to see if that was maybe the issue, but still having the same problem. Is there any salvaging this? Pretty bummed with how this has turned out…
Please advise, I really want to make this work and am hoping I won’t have to replace the wax!
I usually h8 advertisement but i was very satisfied with my order from Collectors' Choice Music and theyre small so i figured I could tell you guys. Im mostly happy because shipping was free and they had a little sale going on so my order total was around $125 total for a grande lamp.
The lamp also arrived within a week (im in the US) which made me very happy.
CC music doesnt control this at all but this is also the first grade ive seen that isnt cloudy to shit. I added some photos of the lamp. I wish my camera was different so the colors would show.
Straight from Oct. 1975; a ‘Decorator’ or more commonly referred to as the ‘Enchantress’ Lava Lamp. This was saved from a home demolition in Vandergrift, PA. I purchased this lamp for $75.00 and I think it was worth every penny. The stunning red wax flows beautifully for being 51 years old. I have a new wreath coming in for the planter to update the look a bit.
Found this glitter lamp yesterday for under £4 in a charity shop.
Wondered if anyone recognised it as I’m curious when it was made or a brand but there’s nothing readable inside.
I've been playing Stray with my daughter, which is a video game in which you play as a cat in a cyberpunk future. Great game, highly recommended. We just got to Clementine's apartment, and it was fun to see lava lamps throughout.
Kinda sorta... the shape is right, but none of them have wax, they are more like modified glitter lamps, the bright dots swirl around like a vortex. Sort of like a night sky effect. Quite pretty! It would be cool if someone figured out how to build this in real life, I'm not sure what the approach would be. Maybe something like UV reactive dots suspended in a gel, with a spinner magnet.
I've had this lamp for a couple months and run it off and on, not very often. It is a little cloudy, I don't mind that as much as I do the bubbles...
Idk if its too hot or if the wax isn't getting hot enough to release them, I live by the ocean so it does get a bit colder here at night and early-mid morning.

I got these 2 brushes aluminum lamps at an estate sale for 25$ each. Does anyone know what models they are, whether or not I got ripped of, and what’s wrong the larger one’s wax. The wax isn’t melting well and seems to be sticking to the glass.
Bought this little thingy off FB Marketplace. Ive been googling so much before getting it and after but I can't seem to find an exact model? "Blue base with lines lava lamp" and other variations isnt getting me any results. As for the item itself, its a bit smaller than i thought it would be. Its like a lil bit under 3/4 of the height of an average lava lamp. The base and cap is made out of plastic. Wax is the same shade of blue as them. I dont have this included in the photos but I also know there is an all red version of this lamp that exists, since ive seen one float by also on FB Marketplace (and got immediately snatched up before i could contact the seller 😞). I dont really know where to look anymore so i made this post to see if any of you guys knew any information about this lamp or even had one yourselves.
Thank you in advance if youve read this whole post and if youve commented on it!!
I see Littlefoot but his tail was bitten off by Sharptooth.
i’m absolutely obsessed with this lamp, i’ve wanted it since i started collecting and finally got one 🤩
Just ordered myself what I hope will be a little beauty on Amazon sale £20.
Next day, prime delivery.
Would have been £30 if ordered directly from the site, including postage.
