How do you find the best vpn without trusting review sites?

I’m trying to pick a VPN and I didn’t expect it to be this annoying. Every review site seems to have a different top choice, and after reading a few of them, it starts to feel like most are just ranking whoever they’re partnered with. I’m not doing anything extreme with it, mostly just normal browsing, public Wi-Fi, and streaming when I’m traveling. I also work from different places sometimes, so I’d rather have something stable that doesn’t randomly disconnect or make basic apps feel slower. I’ve seen people argue about speed, privacy, logging policies, streaming access, and price, but it’s hard to tell what actually matters once you’re using it every day. I don’t mind paying for something if it’s reliable, but I don’t want to get locked into a long plan and then realize it’s annoying after a month. For people who use one regularly, what’s been the least annoying VPN you’ve tried so far? And is there anything you wish you paid more attention to before choosing one?

best cigar sampler for beginners, where to actually start without buying the wrong thing

just getting into cigars and the amount of options is genuinely overwhelming. every time i think i've landed on something to try i go down another and end up more confused than when i started. i get that taste is personal but i have no reference point yet for what i actually like so i'm trying to find a sampler that gives me a decent range without committing to a full box of something i might not enjoy. mild to medium seems like the sensible starting point based on what i've read but even within that the variety is huge. curious what people here would actually recommend for someone who is genuinely starting from zero and wants to build a sense of what they like before spending more seriously.

I have done day hikes before, but I am planning my first overnight solo trip soon with a full backpack setup. I have been reading guides, checking gear lists, and trying to prepare as much as I can, but I still feel like there’s probably something Im missing that only experience teaches you.

Right now my focus has been on the obvious stuff like shelter, food, water, navigation, and weather, but I keep wondering what the less obvious challenges are once you are actually out there alone overnight.

whats something you wish you had known before your first one? Anything you didn’t realize would be harder than expected?
