My mom's ringtone kept going off in the middle of the night when I was about 4 years old.... then it sounded like it was getting closer.

This happened when I was about 4 years old, like the title says.

So, my mom had the ringtone VZW Airwaves on her Verizon Wireless phone (VZW). It was (and still is) very peppy-sounding and it makes you want to dance a bit. If any of you redditors have this ringtone, then you'll know what I'm talking about. She had this ringtone for years. I had always loved it as a little bitty girl, and I loved dancing to it. I still love it to this day.

Anyway, my mom always put her phone downstairs to charge overnight on top of our bookshelf next to the stairs, which was pretty convenient. It would just sit there and charge all night, wondering when my mom was going to wake up and turn it on. I just lay there silently sleeping, dreaming about nursery school and Disney Princesses, and talking to my stuffed animals (teaching them at my "school").

Suddenly, as we all settle into bed, I hear a faint ringing noise coming from downstairs. You guessed it - it was VZW Airwaves. My mom and I have canine hearing, and my dad was asleep, so I'm pretty sure he didn't hear anything that was going on. I immediately woke up and told my mom all about it. She said not to worry about it and that I should go back to bed. It was probably just a spam call.

Reassured, I hop back into my bed, and I try to fall back asleep. About 10 or 15 minutes later, I hear the phone ringing AGAIN. I jumped out of bed and listened. This time, it seemed like the noise was a little bit closer to the room. That was a little freaky. Why would it sound like it was coming closer to us?

I'm trying my hardest to fall asleep now, trying to think of relaxing things, like sleeping on a cloud or playing a game. It really didn't work. Minutes later, I hear this phone ringing for the third time. Frustrated and a little creeped out, I wake up again. It sounded even closer that the second time it rang. It sounded like it was from across the hall.

It's ringing for an extra-long time now, and it won't stop. About 2 minutes later, I think it's worn out, and I finally get some rest. My mom is really creeped out by creepy stuff (duh). I'm not, but I don't tell her because I don't want her to freak out and panic all over the place.

I don't know why I just randomly decided to post this. I think I just had a weird dream about that whole incident last night, and I decided to put it all down on paper. Now that it's all written down, I feel a lot better. I mean, how would you feel if you had to hold in a creepy story for years and wait so long to write it down because of a dream you had of the incident? I'm still freaked out by it to this day, and I hope nothing like that will ever happen again. All my mom knows is that it was probably a spam call in the middle of the night and some weirdo was trying to reach her in the middle of the night. But that's pretty much all she knows about it.

Do any of you have similar stories or any advice?

Anyone here hate/love Avast?

Personally, I think it's a very good antivirus that catches everything in time and protects your computer from real harm. But I also think it's a little intrusive, what with the random pop-ups on your screen or whatever. I use windows defender or McAfee, sometimes i use malwarebytes (rarely) but a lot of the time I just use Avast. I love it and it's very protective. It gives you independence with browsing and websites, and I can deal with the pop-ups. Overall, I think it's a very protective, user-friendly, ready-to-jump-into-action kind of antivirus.

Anyone here hate or love it?

I had a false start at my piano recital back in June, tell me it will be okay. Please.

So I was playing Bourree in E Minor by Bach, and I knew the piece insanely well. I had practiced and practiced for days and days, and my parents were so proud of me. I wore a fancy dark green dress with white eyelet with a full skirt and puffy sleeves and some pink tights, along with my brand-new patent leather Mary Janes. It was June 21st (Father's Day), and I was determined to give my dad the best present ever. My parents film every single recital on their phones and share it with their friends and our family, which is okay, but I'm not really thrilled about it. I got up on stage, and I started to play, but about 45 seconds in or a minute, I hit the wrong key, and I'm like "Oh no, I messed up!" Fortunately, I restarted and played through it without mistakes. When I finished, I heard a "Woo-hoo!" coming from the back of the room. I smiled and curtsied, but deep inside, I felt horrible. My dad said that was the best Father's Day present ever, and I knew he meant it, but I just felt absolutely terrible that night. Nearly 2 months later, I'm still upset about it. Please help me get through this!

My watch is acting weird...creepiest thing ever.

So as I'm climbing into bed one night, I notice that my watch is acting a little weird.

Huh.

It's glitching on me and it's turning on randomly and when I try to turn it off, it won't respond. It does have a low battery, which could a possible factor, so I decide to charge it first thing in the morning.

It's a fitness watch that also tells the time and can track your sleep cycles, which is cool. I take it off my wrist, but it still glitches and is lighting up. My parents are downstairs watching TV, so they don't know what's going on, and I don't want them to. I get up to use the bathroom for a sec, and I run it under the water for a minute to help it snap out of it. When that doesn't work, I try to play a game on it, and it just turns itself off.

I decide to leave it in the cold bathroom overnight to make it chill out and stop doing this weird thing. Well, it doesn't work. It just glitches even more, and it eventually dies. Now I'm back in bed trying to fall asleep. I can still faintly see the watch glowing a little as it dies. A couple of hours later, I jump out of bed to use the bathroom again, and the watch is dead. It won't do anything. But I don't really know if it's dead or not. It wouldn't turn on before it was dead anyway, so I just bluntly assume it is and that it had worn itself out.

I bring it back into the bedroom with me and put it back on my wrist. Now I'm starting to think. Maybe my watch was haunted.

My grandmother passed back in November due to cancer. Maybe she was playing with my watch or was trying to make it look possessed? There was a very low chance of her trying to do that, and besides, why would she? This wasn't Halloween or April Fools' Day. Who and what was doing this to my watch?

I get back under the covers and fall asleep for a few more hours, until I wake up and see light. My watch was back on, glowing.

After that, it just turns off again, and I fall back asleep.

I belong to a Lunch Club, so the next day I tell them all about it during our lunch. They all said that it was probably getting old and that I should get a new one. But I'd had it for a year, and it had been working fine a few days before. What was going on?

I still have no idea what's up with it, and while I would like to find out, part of me doesn't. I love creepy stuff, but what if this was an evil spirit? Who knows what was up?

Thanks for listening! Do you have advice or similar stories?

Do any of you hate kid's menus?

I certainly do! It's just boring and unhealthy stuff for picky kids like pizza, burgers, and mac and cheese. I think that they underestimate kids a lot. Many kids would love to try new things. I'm nearly a teenager, 5'4, and I wear a bra, and I STILL get offered the kid's menu at restaurants. This sucks!
