Buying boots is a waste of golds

I always liked bootless Sona but it felt really hard to have map presence, survivability and good positioning for ults without stacking all the Movespeed I could.

But lately I noticed that each gold I spend in Movespeed is a sacrifice for other meaningful stats like AP.

So I tried playing with only magical footwear and a Mejai and it works pretty well. You have a lot more stats and also as much MS that if I went Swifties+celerity because of the Ms soft cap (Swifties+celerity gives +50 ms, Mejai 10stacks gives around 35ms, and the more AP you have the more Ms you gain from your E, not even counting that it also increase the value of your slow passive)

Also I think boots for Sona and enchanters in general are outdated for multiple reasons :

- Ionians are good but haste is not that relevant in this meta unless you get an absurd amount of it because fights are too fast

- Home guard reduce the purpose of buying boots early on enchanters

- Fimbulwinter gives everything Sona needs so you can actually position yourself more easily without try harding with 1000 movement speed

- Mejai is actually the best boots option as she gain Ms on AP and as an enchanter she has more value by staying alive anyway

Buying mejai and no boots accelerate my build so much that now I have enough room to consider buying a Deathcap around 35-40 minutes, I should probably just build something cheaper but the idea of having dcap on Sona is so tempting honestly

Do you think T2 boots are still relevant this season?

Edit : another good point for mejai is that even if it takes space in your build, it's the only item that can gain huge value with time so it makes it ok to not be able to spend 2k gold immediately. Especially in mid/late game where buying a forbidden idol would make absolutely no difference

Would the game be funnier if everyone could reach full stuff in most games in any elo ?

I noticed that the most fun games I have is when I have all my items because I play enchanters and the more items I have the more options I get and the game become just more interesting and fun. It's probably not the same for every role but still I was wondering if the game would be better if every player at every role could reach its full stuff and the only thing giving advantages would be objectives (so maybe they should be buffed in that scenario)

I think gold lead should be a much shorter advantage leading to maybe grubs and some drakes, but you should not be absolutely sure that the game is over at 15 minutes, no matter how bad it started.

The fact that you can forfeit a game is a proof that Riot knows that the game as it is designed now is not supposed to be fun once you reach a certain disadvantage. I don't think people forfeit because their mates are bad. I think they ff because the mistake of their mates or themselves is impossible to recover from. And people also troll because for them a situation seems impossible to recover from. Imagine if in football, if a certain player made a certain move then his goal would count for 10 and no one would be able/allowed to do the same, nobody would have fun. I thinks it's the design of League of Legends in a way

I think being stat checked is the most boring, frustrating, and undeserved win condition and it should only exist through objectives won through multiple teamifghts where both team had a chance to shine

I'm being a bit dramatic but it is to make my point understandable, I love this game and I don't think it's in a bad place. But I think it could propose a funnier experience by relying less on stat check. It would be a lot of work to balance scaling champions vs dragon soul/Nash/elder, but I had this idea and was curious about what you guys think

It seems impossible to OTP Sona in this meta

I am currently low master (200-400 LP) and I've been an OTP for 6+ years. I've never struggled that much. Engage supports are broken, Assassins are broken, enchanters are nerfed. I really don't see the angle where I can pick Sona every game and win at least 50% of them. It's really hard to outperform the meta champions early game, and I don't even have a chance to outscale since they will get soul most of the time or my team will crash out at minute 3

Am I just performing poorly or is this meta truly hell for Sona ?

Why does Tham Kench support rush Heart steel and other wardens don't

Most TK support players will play heartsteel. I think it wasn't that great before but in S16 you have more gold income so it has become more consistent than before. Tham Kench has a good scaling with size and HP so it is the perfect item for him. But champions like Taric Poppy or Braum also has great scaling with size and HP so why do you never see them build it ?

Is it because players just autopilot and build the recommended items ?

My opinion is that heartsteel on support is a very selfish choice compared to locket, but at the same time being able to be a bigger meat wall for your team is also very supportive in a way. But again, if it's a good choice why does only tahm Kench (and maybe Shen) buys it on support ?

Thoughts on new imperial mandate ?

After some games, I think I’m even more confused about this item.

It feels like it fits multiple support archetypes, but for completely different reasons:

  • Reducing cooldowns on important abilities (Morgana, Swain, Renata)
  • Increasing damage during engages (Zac, Alistar, Rell, Leona)
  • Just being a solid AP support item with a nice build path (Zoe, Lissandra, Gragas)

What confuses me is that I feel like the damage amp passive only really shines if your champion can reliably immobilize multiple enemies at once.

For example:

  • On Swain, I average around 1k bonus damage
  • On Zac, I can easily hit 4-5k

Zac especially feels amazing with it because it’s so easy to:

  • bounce multiple people,
  • proc Aftershock,
  • cycle all your spells,
  • and buy enough time for your team to burst targets.

But at the same time, you end up much squishier than if you built something like Knight’s Vow, and the mana regen feels kind of wasted on engage supports (especially Zac).

I really like the item, but I struggle to understand when I should prioritize it over more utility-oriented options.

Right now my feeling is:

  • On mage supports, it’s often a good first item
  • On engage/tank supports, it feels better as a second item

But even then, I’m not sure it’s actually more useful or consistent than other support options.

Maybe it’s strongest when:

  • your team is very burst-oriented,
  • and your comp doesn’t really benefit from the attack speed from Bloodsong/Bandleglass-type support setups.

For example:

  • Brand APC
  • Zed mid
  • burst-heavy jungle

instead of hypercarry comps that want longer fights and attack speed value.

Curious what other people think, because I can’t tell if I’m overvaluing the item or just building it in the wrong situations.

I need help

OPGG : https://op.gg/fr/lol/summoners/euw/Masylk-EUWU?queue_type=SOLORANKED

I had some success after the reset of the ladder but since a week ago I just keep on losing over and over again and I feel truly powerless. I tried maxing Q, maxing W, maxing both, different rune setups but I don't understand anymore what I need to do to win a game.

I noticed a few things already :

- I nearly never have drakes / soul

- I never have prio on botlane

- I try to focus on peeling my carries but they still get bursted

- By the time my toplaner is 0/6/0 at 15 minutes I haven't achieved anything to balance it

I plan to watch replays of good Sona players to see how they do, but I'm also curious to have your opinions to help me see what I don't. I may just be too tilted to notice what I do wrong

I know it's not a champion issue as I see other players having huge winstreak with her. I feel like I'm trying my best but obviously my gameplay is just that horrible...
