I reiterate that drew doughty is the downfall of this team
Drew doughty has his head so far up his ass you can look him eye level again. He doesn’t play his position, which causes Mikey to have to make up for him. Not only the fact that he’s out of position, and likely laying on the ice in the defensive end; he also likes to be out of position and behind the net on the offensive side.
There were three times I saw, (while watching solely the second period) that doughty was the last back on a rush towards our end. Not to mention the fourth goal that the avs scored could’ve been made that much harder had doughty made another move defensively besides laying down.
His extension for 8 years ultimately locked the Kings into a position where we had to build around an aging core in 2017-2020. After doughty ran to the media to complain about the lack of winning; the entire rebuild Blake had going went out the window to try and win now.
If we’re lucky we might be competitive in 2032-35 but I wouldn’t hope for anything soon.
TL;DR: drew doughty’s on and off ice abilities/antics severely hinders an experienced older team. And will do so till he retires.
