Be honest when KKR brought back Ajinkya Rahane in the second round of the auction for just 1.5 crore, was it because they desperately needed an aggressive T20 opener? No.
They knew they had fumbled the leadership situation, and they needed someone experienced to stabilize the side. That’s exactly why they went for Rahane.
And honestly, in the second half of this IPL season, he has done an exceptional job despite limited resources ( injured players, unavailablilty), constant chopping and changing. He quietly held the team together.
He may not get the hype, but Rahane has genuinely been a great leader for this side and is also a reason for kkr comeback this season
