We got this calico Mittens in 1997. She was the best cat you could ask for and was 6 momths old. She and my brother (pictured with her around his neck) were best friends. She would wait for him to come home from school on the back of the couch, bat at him and then they'd take off and chase each other. As she got old, she had a couple of strokes but my brother and I nursed her back to health each time. Then, in 2013, he found her dead on the basement floor. We wrapped her in her favorite flannel from her basket, held a small funeral (we each just said something nice about her) and buried her in the pet cemetery behind my parents house. For a few months I swore I felt her brush against my legs and would look down only to remember she was gone. It's been 13 years since she passed and it still hurts a little bit. Some animals will stay with you forever 💔 🌈
He refuses to use the cat bed my BF got. Raymond keeps calling Vaska our "Homeless boi" 🤣
Butterflies are one of my favorite creatures.
When I first got Azizi, he was 6 months old and is a complete ham. He's my baby boy, following me around everywhere. When I met my boyfriend, almost 3 years ago and we moved in together, they became best friends. Azizi is very much a lap cat, unlike his brother Vaska. He loves to snuggle and is much more playful, but he can be very mean to Vaska sometimes if he's being ignored. He'll go down to the basement and meow until Vaska falls for it and then tackle him. Or Vaska will be laying down and for no apparent reason, Azizi will walk up and start tugging out his fur.
When I first got Vaska (back in 2018 at age 3) he hid under the bed for the first 2 weeks (first photo), only slipping out at night to eat and use the litter box. I had to drag him out for the second photo. Gradually, he came out until now when he likes to be in the middle of everything. You know, for an orange cat he is extremely intelligent. I caught him pawing at a doorknob in an attempt to get outside. If he wants the door open, he'll hook his paw under a cabinet door, pull it open slightly and then let it go to create an annoying thunking sound until we comply with his demands 🤣 I love him to pieces, even if he does scratch the door jams and coffe table, despite having plenty of scratching posts, pads etc.
The birds were going nuts this morning and Vaska was enjoying it. He gets lots of Audubon hours
The birds are going nuts this morning. I took this video in my backyard. Any talking you hear is credited to A Discovery of Witches as I was watching it and forgot to pause it.
I'm a beginner gardener and I found this tiny berry today. It's about the size of a store bought raspberry. When should I harvest it? I'm not sure how big these are supposed to get. All I remember is that all my plants are everbearing. I had 4, but two of them have sprouted runners out and started 4 new plants. I just snipped two of the runners off because they rooted.
Azizi is the white and orange one and Vaska is the orange and white one. These are pretty old photos from several years ago except the last one, that was just a couple days ago 😄
I'm so excited! My plants are starting to produce food! Granted, I can't harvest anything yet, but it's still producing. I moved my peppers out of the tomato pot and after I did they started to grow like crazy. I also transplanted my raspberry plant to the outside garden area but it doesn't seem to be doing so well. Was I supposed to buy 2 plants?
Out of curiosity, how long should I wait before I harvest my strawberries? They're all everbearing, but I don't know how big I should let them get before I harvest them. The one in the photo is only about store raspberry sized. I also decided to start some fall harvest things in my seed tray.
I'll start. For me it was: A Child Called It by Dave Pelzer. I read the book in high-school and it completely broke my heart and made me furious at the same time. It's an Autobiography detailing the horrific physical and emotional abuse he suffered as a child at the hands of his alcoholic mother, who starved, beat, and tortured him, reducing him to a slave she called "It". The book, a harrowing true story, ends with him being placed in foster care, and is the first in a trilogy that continues with The Lost Boy and A Man Named David, chronicling his life and recovery.
These Sumac trunks have been bugging me since I moved in with my BF. I finally got them dug up and planted Dahlias in their place.
I(35F) been on Zepbound for just over 1 year. I started at 352lbs and am down to 294lbs! That's 58lbs in a little over a year. My goal weight is 180lbs. I know that technically that's still overweight but that's what I was in high-school and I felt good about my body. I had a pair of capris that I couldn't even get over my thighs last year and now there's room to spare. I'm really happy with the progress that I have made. I take 5mg vial every Sunday morning and have been since August. I'm trying to lose weight slowly so it stays off and I don't get skin flaps from losing weight to fast. I didn't even realize how little I could do before. I can actually climb 1 set of stairs without getting winded. My parents, boyfriend and I went out for mother's day to a museum, aquarium and conservatory and I only had to sit down once, whereas before I would have had to sit down alot more often. I will say some of the side-effects are a bit annoying, specifically the sulfer burps I get every Tuesday/Wed.
I took this several years ago at my parents house. It always makes me think of a fairytale.
This is my boy Vaska. Vaska is NOT supposed to be on the table. Vaska doesn't care and has zero regrets.
I had to put my plants in a net because of all the birds (see pic 2 for proof of the birds), squirrels and rabbits that ended up stealing our produce over the last few years. I'm very proud of my setup. I'm growing a cherry tomato, 4 kinds of peppers (jalapeño, banana, green bell and orange bell) a raspberry plant, 4 strawberry plants, and various herbs (basil, rosemary, sage, Oregano & dill)
I made this little succulent/cacti fairie garden for my coffee table. In case anyone was curious the pot and stones in the bottom of it came from Hobby Lobby; the dirt is succulent/cacti dirt off of Amazon; the succulents I got online from Mountain Crest Gardens and the Farie statues I got online from The Enchanted Forest (they have a physical store in Frankenmuth Mi) I made this back in 2019, unfortunately my cats decided to pull the plants out so i no longer have it, but I found the photos and thought I'd share it with everyone 😀
