Oh I cannot flinch you because of Queenly Majesty? Says who?
King's Rock Fling tech finally getting some use. Raichu died the next turn but we won the game.
Edit: I guess I could have worded the title better. Raichu knows Fake out and one good way of ensuring you can get your set up move is to flinch one of the opposing pokemon. In this case I managed to get the flinch with Fling since Fake Out will be blocked by Queenly Majesty
Challenged myself to reach Master Ball only using pokemon with <3% usage
I got the usage from Pikalytics.
| Pokemon | Usage % |
|---|---|
| Meowscarada | 1.12% |
| Feraligatr | 0.6% |
| Meowstic | 0.66% |
| Volcarona | 1.75% |
| Vivillon | 0.76% |
| Raichu | 0.68% |
The team was based on my last team before the season ended. However I did have to replace Farigiraf and Aerodactyl since they are higher than the 3% cutoff. Originally I wanted Noivern as my Tailwind setter but I tried fishing with flying affinity tickets and did not get him so I settled for Vivillon, and by Arceus was it the right choice. 97.5% accurate Sleep Powder is such a dirty move that I almost feel bad for winning with it. And its speed is just enough to outspeed adamant max speed Garchomp.
For Raichu I feel like 2-move Kangaskhan would have been a better choice but flinging king's rock is such a funny thing to do. I thought I was being smart when I have a way to flinch ghost types but the most prominent ones right now are scarf basculegion and mega froslass that both outspeed me and Sableye that outprioritizes with prankster. Lightning Rod is good though I never remember to bring it vs archaludon. It does come in handy when setting up quiver dances with Volcarona.
Here is a quick rundown for the other team members:
Feraligatr - lategame monster with proper support to close out games.
Meowscarada - overall good offensive pokemon, protean checks a lot of the meta pokemon atm
Volcarona - dangerous if can setup QD especially since most heavy hitters are special. provides fairy resistance
Meowstic - provides feraligatr support with tickle and rain dance. shuts down spicy spray with safeguard. Fake out is always nice.
Overall team strategy is to trade favorably early on and position so feraligatr or volcarona can close out games.
Here is the original version. Goal is to reach 1800 in the Global Challenge 1. Team members were chosen because I like them except Sneasler but I grew to like Sneasler when I started playing Champions.
Originally Mamoswine was my scarf mon but I wanted too much from him being my check for zard-y, incineroar, tyranitar, kingambit, and aerodactyl if I get lucky with icicle spear hits and I was often choice locked and in a bad position to switch out so I gave him sash instead. Not the fastest but I get value kills from him anyways.
Chandelure received the scarf and my pivot switch when facing sun teams to cover for Scizor's quad fire weakness.
Sinistcha and Sneasler is there because they are just good mons. I originally had Incineroar as my fake out user but I switched to Sneasler since there aren't that many physical attackers at the top of the meta and kingambit and milotic are abundant so I can't have 2 intimidate mons.
edit: sorry for the confusion I forgot to change Gyarados's spread on the screenshot
Gyarados is my GOAT back when I was playing nuzlockes so I wanted to make him the ace of the team but I could not make him work so I had to move him from the team's ace to the team's support. My head canon is he is an old timer that could not keep up with the young 'uns so he passed the torch of being the ace but is still on the team cos someone has to keep the greenhorns from trouble
Scizor became the mega for the team. It still keeps with the team's original idea of mega that sets up. But with Scizor bullet punches was picking KOs even without set up and since it is priority it doesn't need speed investment.
I went from 1800 on ranked ladder down to 1500s when using the original team but with the current lineup I got to 1600 quickly. I will stick to this team and register on the global challenge and hopefully get the 1800 goal.
