I used to think getting married meant I’d “made it.” Divorce changed that.

Nobody spends thousands on a wedding expecting to become divorced. I didn’t.

Remember, the wedding is one day. Marriage is thousands of ordinary days like:

Communication.
Forgiveness.
Patience.
Repair.

What’s one thing you wish someone had taught you before you got married?

Dating after divorce feels like you’re interviewing yourself more than the other person.

It’s a strange thing nobody really talks about. We go into dating after divorce thinking it’s about finding the right person, but it’s almost impossible to do that until we’ve done the hard work of understanding who we became inside a marriage that didn’t work.
