Hello witnesses. Today it’s time to watch episode 7. We are just one episode away from one of our favorites episodes of the entire run

What I loved:

Again, I’ll be brief with this episode. First and foremost, RIP Dr. Eckland. Too bad we didn’t have much time with him, but his departure added to the decision Jones made at the end that causes the events of the next episode. I imagine watching the lost travelers Jones send before, the death of Eckland and the disappearance of Sam was a lot, even for someone like Jones that has always been tough and logical, putting the mission first

Second, the plot from the episode is amazing. It slightly shifts to more of a thriller/horror tone. The times we see the Witness are chilling. Excellent choice of reworking the Witness’ appearance, it looks more menacing.

And finally, I always appreciate that the dialogue doesn’t take itself to seriously, which obviously has its pros and cons, but in the case of 12 Monkeys makes the jokes land almost effortlessly

First time we see Deacon admitting he has the hearts for Cassie (that one is gonna bitting him soon).

First time watching, I was so sure >!Sam was the Witness, after splintering and seeing the hand, I thought it was himself waiting for him at that moment!<

Hello witnesses. Today we discuss episode 5

What I loved

Part of the whole misdirection from the writing comes to how even after becoming the Witness, >!Olivia knows that to maintain the cycles, everything has to happen accordingly to how it has happened so far. That means using the house of cedar and pine, protecting Cassie and Cole because that’s how the cycle must go!<, and Olivia being shut down so intensely with all those NO just adds to setting the moves for subverting expectations of the viewers

“You never call, you never write” hahaha

“You want me to move in? I mean it feels so sudden” hahahaha

-Oh, come on, she’s not that bad
-She’s worse (horrible, man)
Hahahahaha leave our egg alone you assholes

Ramse is such a shipper hahaha
-Nice to see you two getting back on the same page (breathes)
-I can feel your breath on my neck

Deacon it’s so ruthless… and so fucking funny, damn Todd Stashwick was a phenomenal choice

Sane Jennifer looks very happy. And her mother behind like the fucking girl from the Ring, wtf?

The whole interaction between Cassie and Jennifer it’s so sweet, tragic and heavy. The insults between the two of them are hilarious but the moment Jen starts to panic the whole scene shifts dramatically. Emily’s acting it’s nothing but incredible
-I take my meds, I watch my stress, I stick to my routine, I cope. But she’s always there…
-You have no idea how exhausting it is being crazy
-Rehashing my deepest darkest secrets will save the collapse of time and space? Why not? Sounds like fun

And you can tell Cassie is mustering that strength every single moment hahahaha

Can we have 5 seconds without Jennifer making us laugh?
-Someone comes to dust and check the place every few weeks. I’m paying them too much

Some stunts and security issues, again the show budget was not that high so this is me, again, being insufferable

Hello witnesses. Sorry for the late post, when I did the schedule I didn’t noticed the 9/11 date. I’m not from the US but I believed maybe some couldn’t watch the episode so I decided to skip it. That being said, let’s talk about episode 3

What I loved

I think is cool that the Messengers probably studied different mannerisms to better navigate the times they were sent to, idk, I think is a good attention to detail in the show

Ramse cheering Cole beating Deacon’s ass hahaha also, fuck you can smell the jealousy from Cole, verified by Jones’ “you sure it’s not the other way around?” later in the episode

“I’m standing right here” and Ramse smile as Cassie roast Cole

Not Cassie telling Deacon to behave hahahaha

You can see a lot of background characters noticeable baffled by Cassie’s outfit. Again, amazing attention to detail, the ones that sold the fantasy of the show

This is more for the next episode, but in my first rewatch I remember seeing Cassie’s white hair and being blown away for how far ahead the writing was. Cassie’s death at the CDC was 3 seasons before the events of season 4 that changed Cassie’s hair. Now, this episode doesn’t have something like that, but I think is part of the reasons they show is so good for me, because it connects and sets up things ahead. The phone call for Cole gets explained next episode, but it’s the way the show links them between episodes and season what I admire of the show writing. Because I’m gonna be honest, this show can be corny and awkward at times, the dialogue can be messy, but the storytelling is phenomenal

Fuck you can smell Cassie’s jealousy at the event hahaha

I wish to believe the actor that played Thomas studied the movements and craziness that Emily displayed for Jennifer’s character, because they feel connected, you buy that they are both connected to time, being primaries and all. And now we know Cassandra hates to travel hahah

Hello witnesses. Today it’s time to discuss episode 2 of season 2. We are closing on Lullaby :D
Today I’m beat from work, so I’ll be brief about today’s episode

The intro from Cassie’s perspective is amazing, and I appreciate the detail of her having a mask unlike the rest of the people from 2046

Cassie and Cole stand off is phenomenal, and the tension is remarkable. She gets to be the cold one this season

The Emerson, damn. Too much is gonna happen here someday, some time. Also, >!Hannah first appearance. Which is cool, we get to see Hannah’s introduction and the Emerson. In this moment, there’s a letter waiting to be read, from a mother to her son!<

Jennifer, saving Cole’s ass since 2046

I have to remember if the guy that told Cole that he looked like his “grandfather” is the same guy that tells Cassie that the Emerson stopped selling suits in the 40s

Cassie’s expression looking at the picture confuses me, it feels like she is sad but I don’t know why exactly. Probably just me missing something at translation (me not native, english second tongue)

No nitpicks, too tired and seeing >!Hannah!< always brings me joy in every rewatch

Hello travelers. Today we start season 2, which is really where the true vision of the showrunners takes off. For those who do not know, the creators originally wrote a spec script called Splinter before production companies merged it with the 12 Monkeys IP. Season 2 is where the show fully breaks away from the movie constraints and unlocks its real potential. From here on out, the writing, the storytelling, the foreshadowing, and the twists are absolute top tier

If you made it this far, a huge thank you from me and hopefully from everyone else here in the sub. We all know season 1 can be a bit heavy to power through, and plenty of people drop off before ever reaching season 2. So thank you for sticking around

Hello witnesses. Today we start part B of 12 Monkeys. Part A, season 1, it’s the mixing of the movie with the concept the showrunners had in mind from the start. Now, season starts properly the vision they had for the series.

What I loved:

Ramse and Cole wit as brothers is never funny. Even when at opposites of their goals, find a way to put some of the most based quotes in the show.

“Nah, we just don’t like you” “these old man jokes you keep saying, that’s gonna be, like, a running theme?” “I think she made it” “-So I’m on your watch now? -I never left -Except when you stabbed me in ‘87 -I did. I got you good”

Jones laughing and saying “Who’s next?”

I love the way the Messenger talks. “If causality is your religion, madam, have faith in it” Damn

Cassie being able to swing Deacon to their side. Although, knowing the end, if my memory don’t fails me, >!this Deacon is the one that helped at the siege of Titan, so he knows at least part of the road!<

Jennifer it’s hearing now, fuck yeah! 607, Tommy and Kyle, green to red. Kinda sad she wants to be stopped violently.

Ok the ending of the episode is fucking insane. Cassie and Cole, in a stand off? First time I saw it I was vivid, couldn’t believe the UNO reverse Cassie pulled, and Cole being more compassionate AFTER killing the doctor that paralyzed Ramse was interesting

Excellent start season 2

Nitpicks:

How the fuck have Cole and Ramse been traveling around the world? Shangai, London, Berlin, Vienna (I assume is Vienna, I don’t know)?

It’s a bit weird following the events from the Army’s perspective, because they technically have the map Atan made, so they have dates and names, but how was Ramse not in it? They should know when he dies, unless not even Atan saw clearly how and when Ramse had to die

What I loved:

Arms Of Mine always puts me in a good mood. And Cassie and Cole laying next to each other in bed is cute

I remember watching Aaron getting his ass beat being so satisfying. His death though, gruesome

Markbridge has a new CEO. “You gotta be kidding me” hahaha

Jennifer presentation is hilarious

Cassie’s slap shifted the tone way too hard on that scene. She is changing

A bit of a weird take, but Cole and Cassie thinking Ramse wants to destroy Raritan doesn’t have too much sense, because without it, time travel can’t exist. We later of course know it’s not the case, with Ramse stating “it took time travel to create time travel”

That’s a lot of red plants, and Cassie’s visions are chilling

So Ramse isn’t the Witness? Goddam, why is everybody shooting? Hahaha

Ramse being so real with “she’ll save her, she won’t save me”

Hello travelers. We are finally at the end of S01. This time I won’t put what I loved nor nitpicks, just a brief review

First off, what an excellent way to close out S01. Cassie being thrown to 2045 is insane. I couldn’t believe it the first time I saw it, the stakes being raised that high on a cliffhanger. I was fortunate enough to watch the original run back in 2015 when the series started, so the wait for S02 was excruciating for me and my ex partner

Second, we end the weakest season with a strong bang. It’s evident to all of us that S01 has its flaws here and there, but it’s a shame so many people can’t push through the first few episodes. From S02 to S04, the writing, the performances, the twists... OMG the fucking twists. It’s such an amazing ride

With that said, I hope those who are doing the rewatch with the sub are enjoying rewatching for the 46th time. I also hope those who haven’t rewatched the show yet and want to will join the schedule for the next seasons

Next season we get more Jennifer, more Deacon, and more fan favorite episodes. See you soon

What I loved

Right off the bat, the pacing in this episode is amazing. On top of that, the fact that Jones knew Cole long before he ever met her is phenomenal. She truly has a brilliant mind to be so self-aware about the consequences of saying anything. When Cole asks why she did not tell him about knowing him, she says she had her reasons. In reality, an interesting piece of time travel lore and causality is that it does not just revolve around physical actions, but also speech. Saying things gives other people the leisure to take action, which can completely alter causality. Jones actively choosing to withhold that knowledge is what preserves the timeline

The jokes in the show continue to be top notch. Everything from Jennifer's coup to Jones instantly giving up on Cassie the moment she says "I am going to tell you something hard to believe" had me dying

So Cole’s mom knew about the Army of the 12 Monkeys

The actor who plays Matthew is incredible. Even though his role was brief, he makes such a huge impact every second he is on screen. He is a side character with so much weight that I have never forgotten his face

The ending was absolutely heartbreaking. It was an excellent detail realizing every vision Cole had in previous episodes was actually the memory of his father's death. Cole meeting his brother was really sweet though

Nitpicks:

Why is Aaron still here? The guy clearly doesn’t give a shit about saving the world

I believe that for an organization with huge resources and influence, I mean, Olivia is talking with a senator, you would think their strike teams would be larger. But The Pale Man rolls with very few people, I found that weird but okay

Talking about the Army, after the paradox, the fuck happen to them? Only Cole’s is there

Observations (because today’s nitpicks are forbidden):

I love this episode too much to nitpick anything. But I do have observations regarding future episodes, specifically One Minute More and The Beginning Part 2. In One Minute More, >!Hannah says: “I was there when you lost your father, and I was there when you found your brother”. For the life of me, in every rewatch I try to find where she could be hiding, maybe a shadow, or something that looks like her but I never see anything. And in The Beginning Part 2, Cassie’s remembers everything from the loop the moment she sees the mirror, because it was the first moment he met Cole. I always wonder if every single character that took the injections remember the loop the moment they were supposed to met Cole. Maybe not everyone, but my point here is that this would made Ramse the first to remember I think, because he knew Cole when he was in the foster home, so he would have “remember” everything when he was a kid!<

What I Loved

Ramse is pure gold. "You lying to me?" lights out "Yeah." Putting Adler out of the fire's reach was a solid touch, too

Fantastic timing, Cole. Hilarious

Peters' journal gave a name to the Night Room corpse: the Annapurna Remains. Annapurna is a region in the Himalayas where plenty of climbers meet their end

"What does it matter if you are successful?" "Because getting Ramse killed can't be the last thing I do here." Well... 😅

No straight lines

That scene of Peters begging to be killed is heartbreaking

"Helping to destroy the world to save one person?" On this rewatch, it instantly brings to mind: "There may come a day when a single life for seven billion is one too many. Consider this then: save the one."

"James. We are out of time." Talk about cranking up the stakes

Nitpicks

Not many here. Aaron continues to go the wrong way, and being an asshole all the same, no fucking clue what Cassie saw on him. Minor details like container yard security issues. Max's death felt a bit flat, and Ramse's "it is what it is" line to his son felt cold, but overall this was a strong hour

Hi travelers. Today we discuss episode 9, “Tomorrow.” As usual, this post is tagged SPOILER so new witnesses of the show can be aware of it

What I Loved

First off, what an excellent continuation to the last episode. The stakes are sky high the entire time, especially around the Spearhead plot. The interactions between Jones and Foster are nothing short of astonishing. They feel like long-time friends sitting on opposite sides of a spectrum, one desperately looking back to the past while the other is desperately trying to move forward. I don’t know why it reminded me of the tension between Ramses and Moses in The Prince of Egypt. Excellent acting on both sides

Second, Jennifer going crazy as always. Not once in this entire show have I disliked watching her on screen

On my first rewatch, >!Cassie’s hair was one of the first things I noticed compared to the final season. Later in S04, she gets that white streak in her hair caused by a paradox. Seeing that exact white streak already present here is such a cool piece of foreshadowing. Aside from that, the way she says "you were erased" while looking at Cole, I always felt like a subtle hint that the writers had the ending planned out from this early on!<

Gotta admit too, Elena picking locks was pretty cool

Nitpicks

You would think security at Spearhead would be a bit more present. Not to mention the sudden sound of gunshots inside the mansion would at least alert half the people living there

Overall, this is one of my favorite episodes, mostly because it was the first time I caught a major piece of foreshadowing on my rewatch

Solid 9/10 for me
