Mojave Blues is a melancholic, lonesome ambient patch that transforms Rings into a slide guitar–like instrument. It uses the DanT Bend module to recreate the expressive pitch glides characteristic of lap steel playing, resulting in a haunting, desert-inspired sound.

In this video I recreate the hypnotic sequencing from Scratches on the Readable Surface (SOTRS) by Caterina Barbieri entirely inside VCV Rack — free modular synthesis software.
This patch features two independent voices — a polymetric sequenced voice and a probabilistic melodic voice with random CV quantized to scale — running through dual low pass gates, tape delay, and lush reverb. Much closer to her hardware signal chain than a typical VCV recreation.
This VCV Rack patch is built around a hypnotic trance sequence generated by Proteus and constrained by a custom quantizer scale. The main melody is accompanied by ADDR-driven arpeggio patterns that change over time through sequential switching and addressable sequencing, creating constant variation while maintaining a strong melodic theme.
In this video I explore UZZ, a powerful 16-step sequencer for VCV Rack by Animatek. UZZ combines precise timing, probability, pulse multiplication, accumulators, multiple playback directions, modulation lanes, and flexible step programming to create evolving sequences that are perfect for Berlin School, ambient, kosmische musik, synthwave etc.
For this patch I used UZZ to build a hypnotic Tangerine Dream-inspired sequence with evolving note patterns, rhythmic variation, delay, and spacious reverb.

This video explores 25 different ambient and drone patches built around Mutable Instruments Rings feeding into Befaco Iroi inside VCV Rack. Often described as the atmospheric engine behind Oneiroi, Iroi combines a multimode filter, VCA, resonator, delay, and experimental reverb into a powerful sound-design tool capable of transforming even the simplest signal into evolving soundscapes.
Each patch is demonstrated individually with subtle parameter changes and performance gestures to reveal different textures, resonances, drones, harmonics, and ambient atmospheres.
