Where does ‘Pipunu Thisarun’ come from?

A cover of Charitha Attalage’s Latin Kankariya is going viral these days, which has this line ‘Pipunu thisarun magadi dutuwai?’, referring to female breasts. I know ’thisara’ is a literary word for swan, but why exactly is it used as an euphemism for breasts? I don’t see a resemblance.

Have y'all other girls been through the classic school punishments?

So I'm a girl in a mixed school and at school, we were generally punished a bit lighter than guys. For example we weren't caned as hard, and we mostly got the kneeling punished in a group including guys as well. I recently met a girl from a big name girls' school in Colombo and she told me stories of punishments that were worse than what we had to go through at school, some of them comparable to what our guys went through. I didn't think these were that common in the bigger urban schools.

What are you experiences with school punishments like caning, kneeling down etc. in girls schools or in mixed schools as a girl?

Am I missing out on school romance?

I (18M) have been the good-at-studies kid since I was very small. Upto this day, I've been consistently getting good grades, and in this department, I have no complaints. I will be writing my A/Ls this August, in the bio stream.

However, I have to mention something. I am not the kind of person who studies a lot unless they have to. I don't hate studying, in fact I enjoy it, but I'm also quite lazy about it. I spend a lot of time on my hobbies too. So in this respect, I'm not considered your typical "bookish" nerd. I used to be a bit socially awkward, but I don't think it's that noticeable anymore. I am a bit serious for someone my age; not in the sense that I lack a sense of humor, in the sense that I have a certain set of beliefs about politics, social justice, etc. (mostly liberal). One final thing. Although I am good at studies, I only do all this out of a genuine interest in the subjects. I haven't thought about my future plans or career prospects, and thinking about it actually stresses me out quite a bit.

I've never been good at forming romantic relationships. I've had two crushes that were serious, and neither of them worked out. I tried to get into a relationship twice (neither of these lasted very long). I've been in a couple of "situationship", which didn't work out, but luckily no one got too hurt. All this ended about two years ago. Since then, I haven't had a crush or been in a relationship. But that doesn't mean it doesn't bother me. I sometimes feel bad about not being able to find a partner, or in the least, having a crush. On the one hand, I have really high standards, and on the other, I can't seem to take the steps to actually communicate my interest to someone, or at least allow myself to be intersted in someone. I feel so left out when my friends talk about their crushes, to the point that I invented this fake crush (about a real girl) just to feel normal. I did end up becoming good friends with her, but I never felt any romantic interest in her.

All my teachers and friends tell me that I'll find someone after A/Ls and that this is not the time. I do see theor point, I'm not in a rush. But what bothers me is this feeling that I am broken in some way, that I am unable to form relationships with people. I am not an exceptionally attractive person, but what I have is not a problem of being unattractive to girls. It's an inability to be attracted to them and want to explore something with them. I've even wondered if I am aromantic. (Funny sidenote: I've never talked with my parents about girls in a dating context, and they suspect that I am gay.)

Have you got any advice for me? Feel free to ask me any questions, and please don't be mean. It's already hard to deal with these feelings.

PS: Just saying that I am not misogynistic or creepy or anything like that. Infact I identify as a feminist, and I am considered respectable. I am not a "nice guy" either, I generally treat girls the same way I treat guys.
