Is Finagle products trust worthy?

Context : I count all my calories, and find the least calorie dense options. Came across this today and I really cant believe my own eyes. 50 kcal per serving!!!

Here's my concern that I sent as an email to Finagle's admin and customer care :

TLDR : 50 kcal does not make sense at all when the calculation of macronutrients come to about 94 kcal !! Almost double the stated amount !

A major question and possible labeling error regarding the nutrition facts stated on the back of Finagle Pitta Bread's packaging [ Title ]

As I am unable to upload images here, attached below is a written annotation of said nutrition label found in the back of Finagle's Pitta Bread 425g packet:

*****

Nutrition Facts

Serving Size: 70.8g

Servings Per Container: 6

Amount Per Serving

Calories 50 Calories from Fat 10

Total Fat 5.5g

Saturated Fat 0g

Trans Fat 0g

Cholesterol 0mg

Sodium 100mg

Total Carbohydrate 9g

Dietary Fiber 0g

Sugars 3.8g

Protein 2g

Vitamin A 2%

Calcium 0%

Vitamin C 0%

Iron 4%

*****

The stated calories of 50kcal per serving do not make sense when each macronutrient's calorie/gram is calculated :

Carbohydrates: (4) calories per gram

Protein: (4) calories per gram

Fat: (9) calories per gram

5.5g of fat (49.5 kcal) + 9g of carbs (36 kcal) + 2g of protein (8 kcal) equals 93.5 calories! Nearly double the stated amount!

I hope I have made a mistake on my side and misread or misinterpreted the nutrition label. Still, I find it unimaginable for this to be accurate with such a serving size.

Hence, why I'm hoping to hear more from you soon, to understand if I'm consuming only 50 kcal per serving (Without any additional ingredients added in the reheating process).

Thank you,

And Best regards,

A health conscious citizen.

......

Did I do too much or is my concern genuinely legitimate?

Or am I missing some important context, hoping someone helps me out!

Until I find an answer, FINAGLE IS OUT OUT!

Anyone very knowledgeable with economy related news ?

I always check the selling rate of the relevant bank before making an order through sites like temu and shein. I have some urgent stuff to buy but the rates are going up at a crazy rate. Day before it was 330 and yesterday 346 and today it’s 354. Should I wait another week and see if the rates will go down or is it going to increase further in coming days

Would Sri Lankans actually use a community-based ride-sharing platform?

After dealing with daily traffic, expensive travel costs, and seeing so many empty seats on the road, I started building a Sri Lankan ride-sharing/carpooling platform.

The idea is simple:
Drivers already travelling the same route can share empty seats with passengers heading the same way and split travel costs.

Unlike Uber/PickMe style ride-hailing, the focus here is more on cost-sharing between regular commuters rather than drivers trying to earn a full-time income from trips. Ideally, that should naturally make rides more affordable over time since passengers are mainly contributing toward fuel and travel costs.

It’s currently in active beta/testing, but users can already:

  • post rides
  • find/book rides
  • approve booking requests
  • rate each other after rides

Would genuinely love feedback on whether this is something Sri Lankans would actually use regularly.

Fintrex Finance Scamming customers

This is a serious complaint regarding Fintrex Finance Plc.

This company offers leasing solutions but are not to be trusted.

The ratings for on Google maps are low but honestly deserve to rated 1 star.

My personal experience- A customer of our company had got a leasing facility from Fintrex Finance for a vehicle.

The vehicle they ordered has arrived in sri lanka and is in our possession.

At this point Fintrex Finance is refusing to honor the delivery order and pay the remaining funds apparently because the customer has some arrears.

I would like to point out the customers arrears is of no concern to us- If Fintrex Finance had an issue with the customers arrears- They should not have issued a DO????????

It has been almost 2 weeks since we handed over all necessary documents to this company and no money received yet- The customer also needs his vehicle and has called and complained regarding Fintrex many times.

This part is what we heard from employees within the company but cannot guarantee whether fact or fiction- The CEO of the company had told Finance to hold the payment???? What kind of brain dead CEO does this?? I do not know what CEO does not understand the implication of the failure to honor a Delivery order.

This is my honest experience and review- Under these circumstances I would not recommend Fintrex Finance to my worst enemy.

Edit- I missed on mentioning how none of them answer calls. I would specify titles names and roles, but dont need unnecessary trouble.

Even their call centre hotlines dont work.

I tried multiple times. Google reviews show more on this.

Edit 2- our company is a small one and we run on these income- when companies such as fintrex refuse to pay Promised Leases- we have no money for basic operational tasks (day to day)

How do you handle this if this happened to you?

I’m 33F, and my partner previously had an 8-year relationship with a woman from a less privileged area in Colombo. After they ended their relationship, she got married within a month or two and now has a child. They separated as she was not willing to move out of the area, and my partner's parents were not happy about the family background and her religion.

Even years after the breakup, she has continued posting old videos of herself with my partner, including some with his watermark and inappropriate captions. For example, she once posted a video of herself on a beach with a sexual caption referring to their past." We had semx here, and it was good, kinda in a very Sinhalese poet, so I cannot recall it exactly". I tried contacting her and requested that she remove these posts since they are no longer together, but she refused and blocked me.

Recently, although it has been several years since their breakup, she has started posting in various Facebook groups, implying that she was mistreated and he left her due to her vitiligo. She got vitiligo two years into the relationship, and he stayed with her for 6 years with that condition, he thought things would be okay even though the vitiligo was kind of a problem for his parents. And from her past FB posts she actully were treated well , she has got all her jewelery made for the wedding if one day they get permission , my partner paid the rent of her nursery she was operating, and many many trips and it's all still in her FB wall . While she does not mention my name directly, people recognise the situation and bring it back to me, which is affecting me socially. She has also contacted acquaintances of my family and spread disturbing rumours.

My partner has also reached out to her and her husband asking them to stop, but the situation has not improved and she continues to respond in a very disrespectful and offensive manner ( a typical mudukku behaviour ). At this point, we are unsure how to handle it and are currently considering ignoring her behaviour.

How do you handle this if this happened to you?

How the SL 🇱🇰 Government Manufactured a Dollar Crisis

⭕ Sri Lanka imposed a temporary 50% surcharge on vehicle Customs Import Duty from May 16, for 3 months.

⭕ The LC opening numbers revealed by Dr. Anil Jayantha:

May 07: USD 2.6 million

May 08: USD 4.6 million

May 11: USD 3.8 million

May 12: USD 4.28 million

May 13: USD 8.36 million

May 14: USD 11 million

May 15: USD 23 million

May 18: USD 17 million

⭕ The government’s intention was to delay vehicle imports by making them more expensive for three months. But the market reacted in the opposite direction.

⭕ Instead of waiting, importers rushed to open LCs. This panic response increased demand for dollars, added more pressure on foreign exchange, and further weakened the rupee.

⭕ This is the problem with shallow policy decisions. A tax or surcharge may look correct on paper, but markets do not always behave the way policymakers expect.

⭕ When secondary effects are ignored, the policy can backfire. In this case, the attempt to reduce immediate pressure may have created even more pressure in the short term.

⭕ This is becoming a repeated weakness in the NPP government’s decision-making process. Policies are announced with good intentions, but without properly considering market dynamics, behavioural responses, and long-term consequences.

⭕ Commercial banks in Sri Lanka are quoting the US dollar selling rate at Rs. 354 today.

Note: This is highly likely to be a temporary situation that may normalize within the next couple of weeks and settle around Rs. 320 - 330. It is similar to the reintroduction of the QR system: the policy itself may have been intended to manage demand, but the way it was introduced created uncertainty. As a result, people rushed to fuel stations which created panic, queues, and more pressure on the system instead of calming the situation.

Thoughts on Google I/O 2026

There were some cool shit, but overall I lacked that pizzazz compared to the previous I/O’s. Also Google Search is gonna die eventually in favor of this garbage Chat Experience. Omni(a glorified slop generator) was kinda cool but the cool factor just ends whenever it consumes 50% of the daily usage.

Overall I felt that Google is transforming into an AI first company.

26 old Sri Lankan Girl with Strict Parents

I’m a 26 year old Sri Lankan woman, working remotely with a stable income, but I still feel like I have almost zero independence in my life.

My parents are extremely overprotective and controlling. I’m not allowed to go out alone just to relax, sit at a cafe, read a book, or spend time by myself. Even if I go for office outings or meetups, my mom comes with me and waits in the vehicle outside until I finish. If I meet a female friend, my parents want to “see her face” first before allowing me to go out.

The thing is, I’m not asking to club, party, stay out overnight, or do anything reckless. I just want basic adult freedom. But my dad says even if I’m 40, they still won’t let me go out alone without a “valid reason.”

This situation has started affecting me mentally and emotionally a lot. I feel trapped at home and unable to properly experience adulthood or independence.

I’ve tried calmly talking to my parents many times, but they immediately become angry or dismissive. They genuinely think they’re protecting me.

Another thing is, this isn’t because I’ve been a “problem child.” I’ve actually been very obedient my whole life. I focused on studies, got a good job, rarely went out, stayed home, and always tried to respect my parents.

But now that I’m older and trying to have calm adult conversations about independence, they completely dismiss my feelings. My dad has even told me that if I want full freedom and independence, then I can leave the house - but if I leave, I should never come back.

So I feel stuck between two extreme choices:

  1. Stay at home and continue living under heavy control.

  2. Leave home entirely and risk damaging my bond with my parents forever.

I don’t hate my parents, and I know they think they’re protecting me. But at the same time, I feel like I’m not allowed to fully become my own person.

Has anyone else in Sri Lanka experienced this as an adult? How did you handle it?

Braindead Zombies of the Biriyani Aragalaya

The only reason for Tamil separatism was that during the British colonial period, the Tamil (Vellalar) elite class, which enjoyed greater privileges, gradually lost its political and civil powers after the British left Sri Lanka. Until then, the Tamil elite had dominance in the State Council of Sri Lanka, the Ceylon Civil Service, academic education, and professional fields. With the departure of the British, since the majority population of the country was Sinhala-Buddhist, they gradually began to naturally gain power in these fields, from which they had been excluded during British rule.

The Tamil elite correctly predicted in advance that they would lose the power they previously held. Accordingly, by the 1940s, based on a concept of a Tamil homeland they had developed, they created an idea of a separate “Tamil state.” This idea was primarily initiated by C. Sundaralingam and S.J.V. Chelvanayakam. This emerged in parallel with India’s Dravida Nadu movement in the 1940s, which also called for a separate Dravidian state.

It was not only the Tamil elite who were dissatisfied with the Sinhala-Buddhist community gaining power; Sri Lanka’s Christian elite were also not happy about it. A group of Christian military officers attempted to assassinate the Prime Minister in 1962 and establish a military government for this reason.

In any case, based on the Tamil homeland myth, S.J.V. Chelvanayakam formed the Federal Party (Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi) in 1949. That marks the beginning of separatism in Sri Lanka.

No official statements by the President and PM of Sri Lanka on day to commemorate end of the war!

Hello fellow former members of r/srilanka.

Today is obviously a very important day for us Sri Lankans.

Has anyone else noticed how the social media handles of both the President and PM are silent today?

The reason behind why teanagers get rejected

The reason why people get rejected

I'm a man who's near his 20s and so far in life I've never had a gf and it's not like i wasn't being forward... Ive asked from 7 girls in total.. and all of them rejected... The question is I'm not being a jerk to them.. i do treat girls with the same gratitude I'm giving to my mother and sister.. yet I've got none. It always be either im not ready or u see u as a very good friend... I mean yeah I don't show my interest at first sight but ill drop hints here and there and I don't know why I'm getting friendzone so much. It's hard cuz they'll say stuff as ur not bad but i just can't lov u... It's so hectic that i go to sleep thinking "am i that hard to be loved"... Im not desperate to get a girl but still being a male in srilanka and had no gf for almost 20 ywars is crazy considering same age people are in there 4th to 6th relationship.... I may be a lil bit not so good looking and kinda short(5'6)... Any tips to get my mind straight and maybe how to approach a girl hinting her im coming for a relationship and not to be her male bestie☹️🥲

My Disappointing Experience at IIT Sri Lanka

As a student at Informatics Institute of Technology, Sri Lanka, I feel that my overall experience has been disappointing, especially regarding fairness, transparency, feedback, student support, and facilities. Students pay high fees and spend nearly four years completing coursework, projects, presentations, exams, and vivas, but the academic experience does not always feel fair or properly supported.

One of the biggest concerns is the marking process. In some coursework, marks are deducted without clear comments or proper justification. This makes it very difficult for students to understand what exactly went wrong or how to improve. If students are expected to follow academic standards, then the institution should also provide proper marking standards, detailed feedback, and clear explanations for deductions. It is extremely frustrating when a section that is included in the report is marked very low or even zero, while the feedback does not clearly explain why.

The viva process also needs serious improvement. From a student’s point of view, vivas can feel inconsistent, stressful, and too dependent on the lecturer’s questioning style, expectations, attitude, or mood on the day. A viva should be assessed using a clear and standardised rubric, where every student is judged based on their actual knowledge, project understanding, implementation, and ability to explain their work. However, it can sometimes feel like different students are treated differently depending on the lecturer or panel.

There is also a concern among students that those who personally know lecturers or have closer academic relationships may appear to receive more favourable treatment or higher marks. Whether this is intentional or not, it creates a perception of unfairness and makes other students feel disadvantaged, even when they have worked hard and submitted strong work. Students should not feel that their marks depend on personal familiarity, lecturer mood, or subjective judgement. The process should be fair, transparent, and based only on the student’s performance and submitted work.

Another major issue is that IIT seems to focus heavily on marketing and attracting more students, but the actual student experience after enrolment does not always match what is promoted. From a student’s point of view, it can feel like getting new students is prioritised more than improving current students’ academic life, facilities, mental pressure, fairness, and long-term outcomes.

After spending four years at the institution, students should not be left feeling that their final results were negatively affected by unclear marking, inconsistent feedback, or unfair assessment practices. Students work extremely hard and invest a lot of time, effort, and money into their education. They deserve results that fairly reflect their dedication, knowledge, actual performance, and the work they have submitted.

Student facilities and support also need improvement, especially considering the amount students pay. Final-year students already deal with heavy pressure from research projects, coursework, deadlines, presentations, career planning, and personal stress. At this stage, students need proper supervision, timely communication, academic guidance, useful feedback, and better facilities. Instead, many students may feel that support is inconsistent and that concerns are not always taken seriously.

Another issue is that some feedback can feel very generic. I am not making any confirmed accusation, but when feedback is short, unclear, missing, or very general, it naturally makes students question whether their work has been reviewed carefully in detail. Students deserve feedback that is specific to their submission, not vague comments that do not explain the actual weaknesses.

Overall, I believe IIT needs to seriously improve fairness in marking, transparency in assessment, consistency in vivas, quality of feedback, student facilities, and academic support. Students invest a lot of money, time, and effort into their education, so they deserve a fair, respectful, and supportive academic environment. Clear rubrics, detailed comments, proper re-evaluation processes, and consistent viva standards would make a huge difference to student trust and confidence.
