First if anyone defends death penalty for blasphemy they should not be living in Sri Lanka, a country with freedom of speech. If you defend Anojan's sentencing you are a horrible person.

That being said, I have seen that some Sri Lankan redditors are using the tragedy that happened to Anojan to debunk the "Free Palestine" movement. And some other cheer the Saudi Laws while saying "free Palestine".

Do you people know that Saudi has diplomatic ties to Israel and the US and are therefore more Pro-Israel?

For those who don't know that please inform yourself. The Arab nations with horrible laws you claim to hate (or love) are all actually more pro US and Israeli than you know. So saying "f* Palestine because of Saudi laws" or cheering Saudis while supporting Palestine is just redundant. Palestine is being fcked by the the Saudis too.

I see this question asked in a lot of other country subreddits so I wanted to ask too. And let’s assume it’s like an invasion of the country by troops. Would you stay and defend the country or would you flee? I think it comes down to patriotism and I don’t know how deep it goes in our people.

Disclaimer : I'm a third party who observed the case from afar and because the case is still in the court I have to anonymize a lot of details unfortunately.

So the courts begin the trial at 9:30 am and you can sit quietly and watch the proceedings. The accused and the accuser comes in front of the judge and then they either plead guilty or not guilty when asked by the judge. The Accused pleaded not guilty and the court date was adjourned to February 10th 2027.

This happened in the Tangalle court house, at the high court where a lot of cases were being heard. The accused was present with his seniors and juniors to court and the building this happened according to the accuser is a quite famous Viharaya in the area .The Accused is a 17 year old from the same premises. The accuser will have to present evidence on the 10th of February and when probed further under anonymity, it seems they have video footage of what happened with them because they do travel vlogging as they are on vacation. They have footage of the incident happening in real time, but as the court proceeding go you need time to present evidence according to my own legal counselor.

The case was not handled from the Accuser's side in a proper manner and from anonymous sources I found out that they are now being represented by professional counselors (as opposed to junior counselors) and the embassy is involved thoroughly because this is a high profile case.

I keep seeing Hesh De Silva everywhere on Instagram, and I started wondering how many people actually know about his past.

A lot of Sri Lankans seem to get their news from his page now. He has a pretty big following, posts news/current affairs, and also promotes ads and businesses through the same platform. So whether people like it or not, he has a decent amount of influence.

But before taking everything he posts at face value, I think people should know about his history in Kenya.

Back around 2014–2015, Heshan De Silva became known in Kenya as a young billionaire/entrepreneur and was heavily associated with claims about his wealth, businesses and investments. Those claims later came under serious scrutiny from Kenyan media, and questions were raised about his credibility.

The controversy became serious enough that his own PR company, Glass House PR, dropped him, citing concerns around “ambiguity and inconsistency” surrounding his brand.

There are also old Kenyan Reddit discussions about the whole situation, and honestly, they're pretty interesting to read if you want to understand what happened back then.

Now he's in Sri Lanka with a large audience and is presenting himself as a news source while also promoting businesses and advertisements.

I'm not saying this proves he's currently scamming people. But given the history, I think it's fair to ask questions instead of blindly trusting someone just because they have a large following.

So I'm curious what other Sri Lankans think:

Is Hesh De Silva a scammer, or has he genuinely changed and rebuilt his credibility?

Hey guys, I could really use some advice or help.

I’m currently an undergraduate at OUSL. As many of you know, the Open University’s ODL (Open and Distance Learning) system makes it possible to work while pursuing a degree, which is one of the reasons I chose OUSL.

The problem is that I’ve been actively looking for a job, but I’m having absolutely no luck so far. I’ve tried TopJobs and applied for various positions, including online tutoring and other part-time opportunities, but I haven’t been able to land anything.

I’m honestly at a point where I really need some income. Financially, things are pretty bad for me right now, and my personal life is also quite a mess. I’m trying my best to get myself back on track, but finding a job has been much harder than I expected.

If anyone here knows of any part-time jobs, remote jobs, online tutoring opportunities, internships, freelance work, or even companies/labs that are willing to hire undergraduates, I’d genuinely appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction.

Even if you don’t have a job opportunity, advice on where/how an undergraduate like me can realistically find work would mean a lot.

I've been looking for a reasonably priced whey protein for a while, and eventually decided to go with Applied Nutrition Critical Whey.

I found a 2 kg tub at Supplement Factory for Rs. 26,500, while another retailer was selling the same product for Rs. 32,000.

Naturally, the price difference made me a little suspicious.

Before purchasing, I started looking into supplement retailers in Sri Lanka, and honestly, it was a bit of a rabbit hole.

Reddit discussions and Google reviews were full of conflicting experiences. Some people claimed certain shops were selling counterfeit or tampered supplements, while others insisted those same shops were completely legitimate.

Supplement Factory was no exception.

I came across several negative reviews, mostly concerning customer service, but also a few allegations about counterfeit products and missing seals.

At that point, I genuinely didn't know whom to trust.

So instead of relying on anonymous reviews, I decided to contact Applied Nutrition directly.

I emailed their UK customer service team and asked them to identify their authorized distributors in Sri Lanka.

Their response confirmed that their two primary authorized distributors in Sri Lanka are:

• Sports Nutrition Hub
• Supplement Factory

That was reassuring, but I wanted to take things one step further.

After receiving my 2 kg Critical Whey Lemon Cheesecake, I photographed the packaging and sent Applied Nutrition the batch number, manufacturing date, and best-before date.

Manufactured: July 2025
Best before: July 2027

I've intentionally left out the batch number here, as I don't want to publicly share information that could potentially be copied and used on counterfeit products.

I specifically asked them to verify whether the product was genuine.

And they replied:

>"I'm happy to confirm that this is a genuine and authentic Applied Nutrition product."

I also opened the lid afterward and found the branded inner security seal intact.

So after all that research, emails, and worrying, I finally got the confirmation I was looking for.

I'm sharing this because I've noticed quite a few Sri Lankans asking whether certain supplement retailers are legitimate.

My takeaway is simple:

If you're concerned about the authenticity of a supplement, contact the manufacturer directly.

Ask them who their authorized distributors are. If you've already purchased something, send them photographs of the packaging and batch information.

It's a much more reliable approach than trying to determine authenticity based on price differences, taste, how easily the powder dissolves, or whether someone gained muscle after using it.

And just to clarify, I'm not affiliated with Supplement Factory, Sports Nutrition Hub, or Applied Nutrition.

I'm simply sharing my experience because I know how confusing the supplement market can be here.
