I’m not good with numbers. What exactly does PGA mean? In our council, if a troop has $50 PGA, we earn an extra amount of cents per box of cookies sold in the next cookie program.
Does every girl have to sell $50? Or is it the average between all the girls in the troop? We have 7 girls but our roster is in flux right now because it’s the new membership year, so I hope it’s not that every girl has to sell $50.
I’m the troop leader for a group of 1st grade Daisies. My kid is having trouble following directions lately, and tonight at our meeting there was just a confluence of factors which led to her poor behavior. We have troop rules, but if she’s hanging on me and crying and running away it is difficult to enforce them while also trying to be the troop leader 🥴
Earlier this week I took a training class about troop cabin camping, mainly because I wanted to see what was involved. It was a really good, thorough class, but I have daisies and I felt like the class was more focused on older girls, since a lot of the things were specifically not permitted for our age group. What does it realistically look like to take daisies cabin camping? I would love to see some itineraries.
Can I see your service project ideas for 1st graders? We live in a rural-ish area and we have girls from 4 different school districts and towns in our troop. Most of them joined this spring during cookie season so we didn't get to do many community/service things before summer. Our service unit is also blessed with several other Daisy and Brownie troops that are already doing the usual suggested things I've found online, and I don't want to get in their way or rehash things that have already been done.
We made it through our first year with kindergarten Daisies! Because of the timing when most of our girls joined (during cookie season), we never had much opportunity to establish a set of policies and rules for attendance, girl behavior, and money management.
Next year I’d like to work on having a few less parents per meeting to help the girls become more independent. Right now, all parents have registered so they can stay for the meetings, but most aren’t actually helping, and sometimes them being there is more hindrance than help.
I also intend to register us for more council activities going forward, but I have had issues with certain parents RSVPing for things and then not showing up, which ended up wasting our troop funds. Am I allowed to ask for a deposit for these, which can be refunded if they attend? I don’t want to make parents pay, but I don’t want money paid out of troop funds for girls who don’t come.
Are these reasonable expectations? Any other suggestions?
It errored out at the curb and he was trying to get it reconnected in the app when it started smoking. It hasn’t cut grass in at least a week due to various errors and disconnection/RTK issues. I’m so beyond disappointed. For the brief period of time that it has worked, it’s been mostly great. The yard looked nice and we were pleased with it. But the problems we’ve had in recent days are very troubling, and the customer service has been terrible. If we could get a refund at this point, I’d take it over a replacement.
Last weekend our Lymow One Plus was out cutting grass when it started to rain. I stopped the mower and raised the deck to hose it off because there was a lot of clumpy grass caked underneath. After I finished hosing it off I went into the app to put the deck back down, and the mower shut off. It was at 77% battery so it should‘ve been fine to make it back to the dock. But now it won’t turn back on. It’s been 3 days, it’s sitting in the garage with the deck still raised, and we can’t get it to turn back on. Tried removing and replugging the battery, tried drying it out in front of a fan, and tried a hard reset by holding down the two buttons. The backlight comes on but nothing else happens and then the light turns off. Are there any other troubleshooting steps we can try? I’d try putting it back on the dock, if the deck wasn’t raised…
We’re about to finish our first year with kindergarten Daisies. I feel like we had a pretty fun, successful year and most of the parents have indicated they plan to renew and stick with us. What’s next for us as first graders? I thought we would do journeys but after some investigating I don’t think my particular girls would be into it, and the badges and materials are a little pricey even before being retired. We‘re going to vote on our badges and activities in the fall, but what else can I put on their radar? Do daisies camp? None of the parents leave their kids alone at meetings or council activities so that feels a long way off.
We’ve had the Lymow One Plus for two weeks and it has rained nearly every day since! Had a go during an in-between rains period when the grass was a little wet this weekend and afterward it wouldn’t charge. We moved it into the garage and put fans on it and it’s charging now, but we also discovered a broken spring on one of the Omni wheels. I’d say it’s done less than 10 sessions total and our yard isn’t anything special so I’m not sure how that happened. We have yet to cut the whole yard due to the weather but I suspect it will take multiple days to finish all the zones because the battery drains so fast and we have almost an acre.
So far, I like the concept and I’m sure if we could have some nice weather it’d be great, but I’m definitely not happy to have broken parts so quickly and the battery life is a bummer. I think we’ll have to get out the riding mower 😭
