I bought a fake Dorohedoro figure (Sega Series) out of pure curiosity.
I’ve been seeing a lot of cheap Dorohedoro figures popping up on Shopee lately (E-commerce Platform like Ebay or amazon in my country). Judging by the prices, they’re almost certainly bootlegs, so I ordered one just to see what it was like. Here are my impressions:
Kaiman
- The overall sculpt and paint layout seem to come from the original mold.
- However, a lot of the finer details are noticeably softer, which makes me think they used a worn or copied mold for production.
- The biggest differences are the knives and the base, which are much lower quality than the authentic version.
Gyoza Fairy
- The colors are much more yellow than the genuine figure.
- The paint application is also rougher, with uneven shading and visible blotches.
Packaging
- It didn’t come in a proper box. The packaging was folded flat for shipping.
- All Sega branding and logos had been removed from the box.
If you’re thinking about buying one, pay close attention to the price. Personally, I’d rather support the official release if possible.
(For comparison, the genuine figure photos are from online listings. I’m still trying to track down all of an authentic Kaiman, Nikaido and Gyoza Fairy figure, My progress is in the last pic)
