Is it too fast for quail eggs ?

So, I am trying to do my first batch of incubation of quail eggs. I am planning to do 25 eggs for a first test.

Since quail eggs are really tiny I was wondering if my automatic incubator was too fast for them? I don’t want to accidentally kill the babies 🥲

Can turkeys have angel wings?

So my babies are reaching 1 week old and I just realized one of them have strange feathers sticking out on their side. At first I thought it was just more grown, but now I’m unsure.

I don’t think it will affect their health that much I was just curious.

First time hatching turkeys

6 of my 6 eggs have hatched! 100% success! Now they are in a little temporary home until they can go with the chickens.

Enjoy

Better home for the quails

After some rework we moved the two quail groups together in a bigger enclosure, put more hidden spots, extra calcium pot, 2 feeders and one hidden in case there’s huge stress and finally a sand bath!

Now I know some of my new quails looks rough on the edges, the place were I bought them… puts like 100 quails in one enclosure so… yeah I’m sure their feathers will grow back.

The heir has grown

Our boys decided to troll me today, after 8 weeks one of them decided to lay an egg! Making an him a she.

So I still bought more females I still have two males (it’s a long stories) the more active one has 4 ladies and the other, more calm and gentle has 3.

Now they can enjoy rip baths to relax 😌

Can a female lay two different egg Colors?

Hi everyone, hope you are having a nice day.
So, recently we have been given two other button quails, the past owners told us it was 1 male and 1 female…

But they also said the female lay 2 eggs per day, which was already weird to hear and now I look at the egg Colors, scratching my head.

I know chicken eggs stay around the same Colors but quails? I’m unsure

Little bath under the sun

Yes I know the place of water is small, but I had nothing else since I pretty much do everything myself and my parents has no idea how to help.

Anyway, they did enjoy their small bath and now their enclose will be clea-

Nvm it’s back to dirty again… 🥲

The babies are finally all here!

On all 12 eggs, 11 hatched but we sadly lost one mid hatch. So on 12 eggs we have 10 babies running around and being happy.
Yes right now the enclosure is super tiny for the amount of babies and they will outgrow it. I am currently working on finding them a better place. But since it’s my parents home… I’m quite limited on what my parents want to do.

I’m sure soon they will be able to swim around in swallow water. Not this week since it’s cold right now, but maybe next week after I find them a bigger place for them 😅

Yes they are on each other, it’s because I accidentally spoke them 😭

can I put two couple of button quails together?

Hi there! quick question for the more knowledgable with button quails. Today I heard my quails finally crowding and with no eggs I am pretty sure they are officially both little boys.

I am officially searching for two females but my question would be, can two couples live together? or will the males try to bleed each other to death? which I would be surprise to be honest, they have been together since they where born from an egg.

Thank you and have a nice day!

p.s: they are button cails, they are monogamous, not like cotunix quails that needs 4 female for 1 male.

First baby had hatched!

Idk if that’s a good or bad sign but this baby had hatch 2 days before it’s due date and 3 more eggs had cracked today.

I’ll share more after the long weekend!

One week left!

We are getting closer to the end of the incubation and of course the baby is taking so much space that we don’t see much.

Technically there will be 2 to 11 baby ducks (so the one I thought was dead is alive !)

The only thing I worry now, is I realized the incubator doesn’t send heat/humidity equally in it… so some duckling has big air sac while others have tiny ones…

I guess I’ll have to supervise the hatching and to make sure everyone can breathe and be strong.

Wish us luck!

Hi guys, I have realized that one of the new chickens my mother bought has a weird tail position.
So far she is active, acting like a normal chicken and I’m not sure when the tail was like this. I think she was like this forever has far I remember.

But I’m just worry if it will affect her when she will lay eggs, so far I didn’t saw her jump (not sure if she will be stable if she does)

Idk I’m confuse but not worry since she is acting normal, what do you guys think? I know I’m cage but I don’t always monitor my mothers chickens 😅

So far, the little babies are growing well! I do think there’s 1 egg that is no longer alive but I think I’ll have to wait for next week last check up!

So we have 10-11 eggs that are still moving under their little shells.

Though I have a question, since baby ducks can be quite messy with water, how do you keep your enclosure dry or at least less messy? Do you put some special substrate or do you give them bath time frequently?

Those babies are going to splash everything I can feel it.

Have a nice day!

Hi! Me again with our little duo coming so ever close to 6 weeks.
Now I was wondering if those little buttons will be feathers sexable? I’m not asking if they are male of female since they still have yellows feathers on their face. But I was curious. Since if they are males I’ll try to find two females for them! So far they didn’t crowd so maybe they are females? Idk I’ll see!

Thank you and have a nice day!

Almost one week old and he’s running around with the group. Even hiding outside of the wire fence.

Well… only if you consider this hiding.

Anyway enjoy those little pictures!

First time posting here, but wanted to share the little ones.

Yes I know it’s hard to see, the lightning is not the best. But there’s a little baby there rocking back and forth In it’s warm house.

Technically tomorrow I’m going to start the cold down, which is 10 minutes in normal temperature, then back in the warmth.

So far 11 eggs on 12 are alive, next week I’ll check them again to see if they are still moving and growing. (Might need a stronger light for that.)

Have a nice day!
