Toyota Corolla E210 hatchback (2022) – all four tail lights cracked + water inside. Anyone else?

I’m trying to find out whether this is a known issue on the Toyota Corolla Hatchback E210 (2019–2022) specifically in Europe (Finland), and how other owners and dealers have handled it.

The car:

  • 2022 Corolla Hatchback 1.8 Hybrid, Under 40,000 km, Finland
  • Serviced at authorized Toyota dealers (Toyota Relax active)
  • No impacts or accidents during my ownership (bought used 2 years ago)

The issue: Fine micro-cracks (crazing) appeared on the lenses of all four tail light units – both the tailgate and body-side lamps, on both sides. Water now collects inside after rain, and one unit has stopped working completely.

What happened so far: At the inspection, the Toyota service advisor told me they had seen similar cracking before and that earlier cases were handled. The importer declined to cover anything, saying it was because I’m not the first owner. The quote to replace all four is ~2,700 €. The case is now with the National Consumer Advisory Service.

  1. E210 owners – have you checked your tail lights for hairline cracks or moisture, especially along the top edges?
  2. Has anyone had these replaced under warranty, Relax, or goodwill? Did the part number change on the replacement?
  3. Has anyone found a TSB or technical bulletin about this?
