Monitor flashing black on and off when refresh rate is turned up.

This is the first time I’ve had this happen. I have a ryzen 5 5600g and a 6600 gpu. You can see in the video my monitor goes black anytime I move or click my mouse. ANYTHING I DO. Most frustrating issue I’ve ever had. Does anyone know why? Maybe I need a different cable or a display port cable? Any help would be awesome. I am on Linux on Pop_Os!

Looking to upgrade my pc, but do not know what to upgrade or if I should keep any parts.

My specs are:

I5-7400

16g 2400mhz

ADATA SU650 240

ST1000DM003-1SB102 1tb

GTX1050

Windows 10 OS

I am looking to get a better pc for my brothers setup but nothing that passes 180 hz because of my monitor. My main pc is a 10700k with a 3060, so something kind of in between that is faster, but around the same performance. I was thinking maybe a 1660 super because that is what I put in my older brothers PC, and that runs really well. I usually go for intel cpus and not sure how ryzen works. Any info would be helpful.
