B149 code books for G3 and G2, physical or PDF?

Licensed plumber in Toronto, starting G3 theory through George Brown this week and planning to carry on to G2 after.

Need to buy CSA B149.1:25 and B149.2:25. The bundle is $390 USD direct from CSA, around $530 CAD, and it is the same price whether I take paper or PDF.

Leaning toward the physical copy but wanted to hear from people who have actually been through it.

  1. Anyone who went digital, is the DRM workable or is it a pain? Can you actually print it to take to a shop?
  2. For the TSSA exams, does anyone bring anything other than the paper book?
  3. Is there a cheaper Canadian source than buying direct from CSA, or is that just what it costs?

Thanks.

Licensed plumber going for G3. Herzing vs George Brown, then HiMark for G2. Looking for real experiences

Toronto based. Red Seal plumber, also hold backflow certification. Going for my gas ticket and I would rather get it right than get it fast.

Where I am at:

I am registered for George Brown's G3 theory, the online evening section running October to February, Mondays and Wednesdays. Already paid for it.

I am now looking at Herzing's Toronto campus instead. Their morning class is 12 weeks, Monday to Friday 8am to noon, in person at Kodiak Crescent, and it bundles the practical and the TSSA exam. It would finish two to three months sooner.

The plan after that is to take time off work and do HiMark's G2 co-op.

What I am trying to find out:

  1. Has anyone done Herzing's G3 at the Toronto trades campus? How was the instruction and how much actual shop time did you get?
  2. Anyone done George Brown's online evening G3? Did the online format hold up, especially for the electrical unit?
  3. Between the two, did either leave you better prepared for the G2, particularly units 5 and 9?
  4. For HiMark's G2 co-op, can the placement be your current employer, and do you stay on their payroll during placement weeks? I have seen this mentioned and want to hear from someone who actually did it.

Coming from plumbing, most of the piping and code navigation is familiar ground. The parts I expect to have to work at are electricity and combustion. Any advice there is welcome.

Thanks.

Whirlpool UDT518SAHP0 leaking right corner

I've got a Whirlpool Panel-Ready Compact Dishwasher with a stainless steel tub (Model UDT518SAHP0) that's leaking from the right corner — a slow drip during the rinse cycle. It used to be a bigger leak, but it improved after I replaced the gasket that runs along the top and sides of the unit.

I'm now thinking the bottom portion of the inner door gasket needs replacing, but I can't track down the part number anywhere. Anyone have any leads?

I've also levelled the unit and raised it slightly to keep water from pooling at the edge, but still no luck.
