I just started a new part time seasonal job last week and now I found out my brothers ship is coming home from the navy and I want the last week of aug off to fly and visit him but I am scared I will look terrible already asking for a vacation. Advice? Should I just work to save my job

Nobody is friendly the vibe is just terrible. I sat in an empty office and watched videos then they sent me home early then I had to call to get my next shift because no one told me. Nobody trained me the next shift they just rolled their eyes and pushed me off on each other not even acknowledging I was a person. Haven’t heard anything since and it’s been a week and a half. Will they add me to the schedule eventually? Or should I take this as a sign. I am not new to retail and have never experienced this before.
