Older apple watch GPS accuracy deteriorating

I have a five year old apple watch. I use it mainly for golf. I use the watch GPS, which is more accurate than the phone GPS.

It was accurate to within 3 feet as of two years ago. Last year it would occasionally lag, but recover in a few minutes. This year it is routinely off by 10+ yards and adjusts itself back and forth around the actual position. Is this normal behavior? Are older watches less compatible with new GPS standards or something?

Does the MLM work if I put it 2-3 feet above the ground?

I love the feedback the MLM gives me. I would like to get a more normal view of my swing though. The angle this thing sits at makes it hard to see some things accurately. Has anyone tried putting theirs on a chair or a stool or tripod?

Cheap firm compression golf balls

I normally play a vice pro. Lately the drives have been squirting a bit out there, so I thought I would get some noodles for the wayward days.

I used them today. These things go up like hot air balloons on the drives. Overall just really poor behavior. Are there any firmer compression cheap balls? All of the ones I found advertise how soft they are.

Hitting a draw feels weaker than hitting a fade?

I tried some of the advice from my last post on hitting draws. I could reliably draw it using the "hitting to right field" method. Video is draw first, then fade. I had a couple of follow up questions.

  1. It felt like I could release the club harder when hitting a fade. Am I doing something wrong with the draw swing?
  2. The flight was lower with the draw. It felt like I really had to lean back on it to get the same height as a fade and sometimes I would hit it fat with the irons. Is that normal?

My affordable collection

Top row: Milano one hand, Akerfalk 24h, Fossil, Seiko 5

Bottom row: Mr Jones, Sternglas, Citizen eco drive, Fossil Automatic

Over the next five yearsI would like to add to this, a Bambino, a Marlin, maybe a Raketa if I can get an authentic original and a Mr Jones to complete the pair.

Are refurbished Raketas any good?

What are they like long term? They are not super expensive, but they are in the 100s, so not peanuts either. Do they compare to Timex/Citizen/Orient/other comparably priced brands?

Does anyone have experience with Seiko service?

My dad gave me his old Seiko 5. It has a lot of wear on it, but the motion is still good. I can change the belt and clean it, but the crystal needs to be replaced. Does anyone have experience with Seiko service? Should I look at a local watch repair shop instead?

What is the best website to display photographs?

I am a keen amateur photographer. I have been at it for fifteen or so years now and I have a decent collection of pictures over the years. I have been looking for a place to show my pictures for a while. What is a good public website for this?

Best streaming service for sports

I watch motor racing, golf, football and baseball. I'm trying to find a sports streaming service at a good price that covers these. The best I've been able to find was maybe fubo? Are there any cheaper alternatives?

How do you hit fades and draws?

I hit a pretty consistent straight ball/a slight fade with most of my clubs (8i swing in the video). I am pretty happy with it and can play it all day.

That said, I would like to learn a method to hit draws that works for me. This is purely for experimenting on at the range. How do you hit fades and draws? Does it work with all of your clubs?

Watch case recommendations

My watch collection is growing and I would like to get a case to put them in. I will probably limit it to a dozen watches at most. What are some good cases for the money?

Is there a physical limit to speed?

The instructors and club makers will say their latest lesson/equipment will help you hit 300 yard bombs and the YouTube set claim they all hit it 400+ yards off the tee. But there has to be some correlation to physical strength. Is there research out there that tests physical strength against driving distance assuming good technique?

Is the golf swing a little biased to one shape?

Recently, my swing has gotten to a point where I am happy with the distance and control.

If I aim left edge and try to hit a fade, the ball goes pretty straight. If I aim right and try to hit a draw, it draws. Is this kind of asymmetry normal? Do most people have a bias one way or the other?
