Always wanted a Speedy.... Not that I couldn't afford gen.... I can buy it gen vintage if I wanted. But the modern Speedys are too big for my wrist, I loved sub-40mm watches. Then comes my holy grail, the first of the lineup, thinner case, 39mm, silver look and broad arrows hands. Only problem is..... I cannot afford THIS ONE in gen, because even if this 57-speedy never went to the moon, prices are in another galaxy (went you find one)... No reps available for this neither. It was still possible to trim a AliX shitter case, but the result would be sub-par. Not even talking about the dial that looks more like MrBean with the misplaced subs.

Then came the Thorn T026. This homage checked every marks for the case (abeit not clone at all), but the closer you can get on budget. But neither the Ronda nor the VK have a satisfying look. Pain point was to find a correct caliber without using a gen-321....

So let's go...

• Thorn T026 base case
• Omega gen Speedy crown
• Miyota caliber OS2x has the perfect sub spacing but not layout. It's the best we can get anyway. OS2x is far bigger than the Ronda, and I need to spend hours drilling the case and the caseback to be able to close the watch.
• shorter chrono pusher, closer to gen spec. It was very tricky, and need to trim down the length. Too long and the caliber did not enter the case, too short and the chrono did not work...
• went for full custom dial with a very slightly brown touch in the sunlight. This is a personal work and creation as usual. 3D applied-emblem. Aged lumes.
• biggest problem was the hands: Ronda and Miyota didn't have the same dimension, and broad arrow hands are impossible to find for the latest. Had to resize the opening from the Ronda hands, and it was ..... a nightmare....

So here it is.... Not perfect, subs are not "3d enough", chrono and counter are not in the correct sub, but......
