Video with the central distortion of DA

I tried recording the issue directly from the displays, but you need to make some contraption where the smartphone is perfectly glued and stuck to the DA, and even with that, the effect is quite subtle. More subtle that in the video. The video above is a recreation with After Effects. I had to exaggerate a bit - and I'm writing here that as a disclaimer - the effect is exaggerated, otherwise it might have been hard to notice what I'm talking about.
But the point is when it comes to lenses people complain about side, margin warping, while in my case I dont care about those, since those are hard to notice anyway. But central warping or pupil swimming is more noticeable.
My Beyond2 was very stable, had none of this. I'm not sure if such an issue is normal for DA or my unit has an issue. Both eyes, both lenses have the same warping. Also dial it down to 25% in your mind to better reflect the real warping.

Universal Nodes, large number of nodes

A small update for Universal Nodes. Trying to optimize the performance and testing with large numbers of nodes.

Also showcasing how I added buttons for Solo and Mute/Disable.

Universal Nodes update

Blur and Sharpness might seem like small features, but I always wanted these.
Sure you can always do them in Photoshop, but I think avoiding round trips to photoshop encourages experimentation.
Do other DCC have these in material editor ? Blur and Sharpness ?
And some more showcasing of controllers in node format.
Next demo will have everything at the same time in the Canvas: Maps, materials, objects, lights, all interacting.

Increase World Scale to 108% to fix the scale.

It's quite easy to test and see that the world scale is not accurate.
Keep a Valve Index Controller in your hand and look at the real one in your hand vs the one in the VR room, and keep switching the view and adjust the world scale numbers until both look about the same size.

For me between 107 and 108 makes them look the same.
But games like Dirt Rally 2 VR can benefit from even larger numbers.

Before discovering this, lots of things looked too small, especially compared to Beyond2 scale. The Half Life Alyx soldiers were too small, being inside the Dirt Rally car makes the copilot look small, same with the wheel, the interior looks almost cartoonish, instead of the size of a real car.
I'm surprised I did not find this yet mentioned on any of the tons of reviews.

Can anyone test this and confirm ?
