Guys, how do you control the time spent on each project?
They do it manually with a table clock, cell phone or use some tool to know how many hours they spend on modeling, rendering, review and adjustments, etc?

Hi guys- I’m trying to help a student with her masters project but she needs to export her work with animation to a webgl. To create a reveal in 3Ds max for an animation in the program I would just do a simple animated slice. However now matter how hard I try I cannot bake that animation into the mesh for export in gbl file format.
Any help would be deeply appreciated.
I've been trying to learn 3D for years, and I feel like I'm stuck in the same cycle.
I first started learning 3D environment art around 2018 and kept going until 2020 before I stopped. Now I want to start over because creating environments is still what I want to do more than anything.
The environments that inspire me the most are the cities and architecture in games like Assassin's Creed Unity, Assassin's Creed Syndicate, Battlefield 1, and Battlefield V. I love classical, Gothic, and historic architecture, and my goal is to create environments with that level of detail and atmosphere.
The problem is that I can't stay focused on one thing.
At one point I switched from environment art to Houdini FX because simulations looked really interesting. I learned a lot and was making decent progress, but then I completely lost motivation and stopped. This has happened several times. I get excited about a new area, dive into it, then eventually lose interest and move on, even though my long-term goal never changes.
I already know the basics of 3ds Max and Houdini, so I'm not starting from scratch. The problem isn't learning ,it's staying consistent.
I also think I might have ADHD (I'm not diagnosed), because this pattern happens in other parts of my life too. I become obsessed with learning something, then suddenly lose motivation even though I still want to achieve that goal.
It's difficult to explain. I genuinely want to become an environment artist, but I feel like I'm constantly fighting my own brain.
I'm looking for advice from people who have been in a similar situation.
I'd really appreciate recommendations for both free and paid resources. More than anything, I'm looking for a structured learning path instead of randomly watching tutorials and hoping everything eventually comes together.
Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read this. I really want this to be the time I finally stick with it.
I have a question about the Line function in 3ds Max. When I try to finish a line at the same point as another line, it snaps slightly above the snap point instead of keeping the same lenght. I'm not sure how to fix this issue. Could you please help me? Also, I have 2D Snap enabled.

Hi, When I try to select under the Element sub-object, it selects multiple elements as per shown. Is there a way to select one at a time?
I have attached the link to file here (3ds max 2025)

Thank you.
I'm currently a Modo user looking to switch software since Modo has essentially been deprecated.
I've been considering 3ds Max, but I'm a bit concerned about its future as well. It seems to receive fewer major updates compared to other DCCs, and I'm worried it could eventually end up in a similar situation. I could be completely wrong, though.
I've also tried modeling in Blender, but I find that I much prefer workflows that rely on marking menus and keyboard-driven tools. They just feel more comfortable and efficient to me.
Would you recommend investing time into 3ds Max for hard-surface modeling today, or would you suggest a different option? I'd really appreciate your advice.
I have a complex scene with a lot of small bolts. I would like to select all of the bolts but when I use "Select Similar" it selects everything that shares the same material which is a lot more. These are all separate objects, not combined just for context. Does anyone know any tips to do this?

Hi everyone,
Sharing one of my recent restaurant visualization projects. I work on creating realistic 3D interior renders, helping architects and interior designers present their concepts more effectively.
I’m currently looking to connect with interior design studios, architects, and renovation firms who need reliable support for their visualization work — whether it’s still renders, 360° views, or animation.
My goal is to build long-term collaborations where I can fit into the existing workflow and help bring design ideas to life through high-quality visuals.
A little about me: I’m a 3D visualizer specializing in architectural visualization, interiors, and exteriors.
If you have upcoming projects and need rendering support, feel free to reach out. I’d be happy to collaborate.
Thanks!
Hello, Im trying to use an object to fill a path, but I don't want to "stretch" it, I want it to repeat (instances?) to fill along the path. Am I using the wrong the modifier for this? (It's basically a section of wall for a racetrack I made, that I want to follow the line/path) Im sure I've done this before, but can't recall what Im missing here. Thanks!
Can anyone explain how to create this rounded false ceiling in 3ds Max? A short video clip or tutorial would be really helpful.
