ATorch T3 USB-C Tester Firmware Update v2.0.6 Available - 4-Wire Resistance Measurement

As some USB-C tester enthusiasts know, ATorch released the model T3P a few months ago. which is an updated version of the model T3. I, and some others, suspected that the T3P replaced the T3 and ATorch would no longer release firmware updates for the original model T3. Today I discovered that ATorch released T3 firmware version 2.0.6 on 23-September. The version 2.0.6 firmware update is available on their support site at the link I attached to this post.

I had Google Gemini translate the v2.0.6 update notes.

Added 4-wire method line resistance detection & evaluation (requires pairing with a data line resistance adapter)

The voltage sampling circuit in the 4-wire method has virtually no current flowing through it, resulting in almost zero voltage drop across contact resistance. Therefore, the measured value reflects the true resistance of the cable itself.

I am about to order a T3P from AliExpress since the price in the ATorch Official Store recently dropped to $20.14 and I don't think its going to go any lower. I still cannot find the recently released ATorch cable resistance adapter on AliExpress, but I remain hopeful that it will appear soon.

Fired for eating a cookie that was about to be thrown away

A friend of mine worked part-time at the local Publix, either in the sub making area or the hot food area, which are separate in this particular Publix. He always did his best and worked hard while most of the other employees stood around scrolling on their phones. At this Publix, they would put a plate of chocolate chip cookies on the bakery counter and give them to kids. At the end of the night, they would toss whatever cookies were still on the plate.

One night, after cleaning the hot food area, he went over and grabbed one cookie before the lady at the bakery counter threw them out. Someone saw him eat the cookie and reported it to the store manager, who reported it to the district manager. They fired him for “stealing food”.

Is it normal at Publix to fire a hard-working employee for taking one cookie from a plate of cookies they hand out to kids for free, when the lady at the bakery counter was about to toss the rest of the cookies into the trash can?

MECHANIC G-POWER 160W GaN Desktop Charging Station

I ran across this Mechanic G-Power 160W GaN desktop charging station while clicking around on AliExpress. The price is ~$64 but after some more clicking around I found it for $43 (plus $17.70 shipping, so ~$61). GaN chargers are on my list of things to not buy from AliExpress, but this one caught my eye because I am a sucker for devices with cool color displays. Intended use is to have another gizmo with a cool display on my desk. Any info and/or opinions are welcomed.

A quick AI search says it supports PD 3.1/3.0/2.0, and PPS on the USB-C ports and QC3.0, Huawei FCP & SCP, Samsung AFC, and BBK VOOC, VOOC 4.0 Dash Charge/ Warp Charge, SuperVOOC, and FlashCharge. Max power from a single USB-C port is 100W. The only negative thing reported in reviews is that the display is always on, cannot be turned off or dimmed, and the device does not have a power switch. One review complained that the device gets hot when the 15W mag charger on the top is used.

WhatCable - MAC App that displays USB-C Cable Info

I ran across this app today that can display information about connected USB-C cables. It only works on MAC computers with Apple M1 or later processors and macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later. The App Page says it only works with Apple Silicone because "Intel Macs use Titan Ridge Thunderbolt controllers that don't expose USB-PD state or cable e-marker data through any public macOS API."

I don't own a MAC with an Apple M1 or later processor so I can't try the app, but I thought it was interesting and am sharing it here. I am wondering if there is anything like this for Windows PCs, or if it is even possible to do something like this on a Windows PC, and if it is, would it be CPU and/or Chipset brand/model dependent.

Here is the developer's Github Repository for anyone who is interested. Screen shot shows what it can display.
