How do I toggle the game UI in WW HD?

Now I know this is a very basic question, but all that I could find online is people talking about toggling the HUD on and off and such, but none of how to actually do it. I turned the HUD off by accident somehow and can't figure out how to get it back, thanks in advance

I was just going strip mining and getting rid of a patch of gravel, but on a good amount of times when I broke the gravel and placed a torch under it to get it to all fall away it would in fact just sit on the torch.

Any ideas why this is? I did some brief searching and couldn't find anything about it. Is it a bug? Just wondering if this is something I can stop from happening.

If I break the block above the torch as well, it will fall and work as expected. It is technically modded with Fabric but no mods are installed
