B1 level Spanish as a British tourist in Santander?
Hi Guys, I'm visiting Santander shortly, and I've had my strong B1-level Spanish described as a "superpower" when it's used in that city (not literally, of course).
I learnt South American Spanish, as I was dating a lovely girl from Argentina. I didn't learn "Rioplatense Spanish", as it's called, just standard Colombian/Mexican Spanish. I wanted to talk to my partner's lovely grandparents, so learning was essential for me.
Considering I'm a middle-aged Brit, how will my B1 level be viewed by locals, compared to the vast majority of Brits who simply don't even try to learn? Will I enjoy my stay there with that Spanish level? Are those who make an effort treated differently?
Thanks
