A non-native arriving to Mysore for studies
Hello everybody
As the title suggests, I am a young lad from Uttarakhand looking forward to join a uni in the city. My main concern is the language barrier. No hate but after a few hours of lurking around the sub, I witnessed a bit of hostility against outsiders. Coming from Uttarakhand, I am not a gutka spatter or something cause believe me, we too are troubled by such kind of people(generally tourists from UP Bihar). Even I relate to the cultural part, like Karnataka the culture of our Uttarakhand is dying too due to heavy influx of outsiders. Our language too, is a dying one. The central govt always tries to impose Hindi despite Garhwali and Kumaoni being the native languages.
I will gradually try to learn Kannada through my hostelmates and friends I make along. Are the people of the city too hostile against non-Kannada speaker? Can anybody guide/share some basic tips to get along with the environment of the place?
Edit- May I know how the weather is guys? Being from a cold climate region, would it be hard for me to bear summer heat? Is it humid all year?
