What are the reasons for your bans for CSE insta/facebook?When you click on "learn more about this rule"

I'm asking because I get the impression that the majority of CSE bans are based on everything related to DMs. Here are the 3 bans I saw, including 1 for som/soc

New Instagram account after banning soc/som/CSE

I was banned for SOC on August 3, 2026.

My linked Facebook account was suspended at the same time, but after I appealed, they restored it.

On August 4, I created a new Instagram account using the same phone number, the same device, and the same IP address. The only thing that was different was the email address.

I even completed a selfie verification, and as of now, my account is still there.

I would like to know if people who were banned for SOC/SOM a long time ago still have their accounts today.

And for people who were banned for child exploitation, have you managed to create a new account successfully?

Why is SOM/SOC Not Reported to the NCMEC?

To understand this, we first need to look at the origins of SOC/SOM on Instagram. In 2025, a wave of CSE bans took place. After refining its AI, Meta began banning accounts for CSE. Sharing a photo deemed problematic by the AI resulted in an immediate ban and triggered a report to the NCMEC. These CSE-banned accounts created a domino effect: anyone who had interacted with them (via likes or saves) was, in turn, banned for CSE. Following this period of widespread false positives, Meta introduced the SOC/SOM category. A Quick Overview of the NCMEC The NCMEC receives two main types of reports through its CyberTipline: Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM): Explicit images or videos stored, published, or transmitted. Solicitation / Online Enticement: Private message conversations where an adult attempts to obtain photos, arrange a meeting, or blackmail (sextort) a minor. For the NCMEC, any report lacking illegal imagery or explicit solicitation in private messages is categorized as purely "informational" and holds no law enforcement value. Why This Led to the SOM/SOC Category Faced with the absurdity of these unfair ban waves—where thousands of users were blocked overnight for simple clicks—Meta updated its system: Sending automated reports to the NCMEC was generating a massive volume of false positives (reports containing no criminal evidence). To fix this, Meta created and reinforced the SOM/SOC filter to remove passive interactions from the criminal pathway (CSE) and treat them strictly as internal Terms of Service violations. This is why many accounts originally banned for CSE were reclassified as SOM/SOC: to prevent sending false positives to the NCMEC. Reading Meta's Terms of Service confirms this, as these policies fall under the second section, which covers their internal community rules.

Ban on Instagram, soc/som/cse Report to the NCMEC?let me explain.

CSE

In cases where someone was banned for this reason, many received a warning message that a report had been filed with the NCMEC. Yes, this does send a report because this kind of thing is considered a crime. Is it automatic? Not sure; some people have been notified of a ban without receiving a message Does this mean there were no reports? Probably, because for the past year and a half, Meta AI has been overloaded with reports to NCMEC. I also noticed that some people who had the reporting message no longer saw it after a few days despite the fact that the CSE itself has not changed .

Learn more about this rule you have "read in full"

The first part concerns the CSE This is indicated with a red "prohibited" sign. Since CSE is a crime, it is reported to the NCMEC.

Are you going to have the police knocking on your door? No, when your account is flagged by the NCMEC, they check it. If there are no problems, then the NCMEC will not send your case to the authorities in your country.

What about banishments now soc/som

In the full text, you can see a second section with an orange "attention" symbol.Meta clearly explains that this part concerns only a decision regarding their internal regulations, which is not the case for the first topic addressed. This will concern the act of commenting on, liking, or saving content deemed problematic by meta.

But then, is this reported to the NCMEC? No Unlike the first situation, liking even "csam" content is not a crime. To find out, it's very simple: the people who were in the first case received more than one reporting message In the current case, no one has received a report from the NCMEC.Moreover, many accounts initially banned for "CSE" had their sanctions changed to "soc/som" simply to avoid overloading the NCMEC with false reports, as is the case here.Furthermore, for the sake of transparency, a statement from X shows that accounts banned for liking, commenting, or saving content cannot be reported to the NCMEC. The same applies to Snapchat. It is very likely that this directive will apply to all social networks

In summary

CSE with the mention "reported to the NCMEC" high probability of having been reported

CSE without a message or with a removed reporting message, it's unlikely there was a report due to the problem with meta.

The Soc/Som account is changing from "CSE" to "SOC/SOM" and is not being reported.

Instagram account banned for soc/som

On August 3rd, my Instagram account was banned for social media use. I appealed, but I was immediately and permanently banned. The problem is that my Facebook account, which was linked to my Instagram account, was suspended. So I appealed on Facebook, because even though my Instagram account was permanently banned, it didn't permanently ban my Facebook account. I just appealed. Do you think it's possible can I get my Facebook account back despite being permanently banned from Instagram?
