My favourite Jinmao moment

I love all Jinmao moments, even the creepy ones. But I wanted to share a scene that doesn't get talked about that often.

This is after Maomao solves the mystery of the death of Kousen, an old widower who only drank and ate sweets, and Jinshi rewards her with a bottle of booze. Season 1, episode 9 (Suicide or Murder)

Of course Jinshi can't let Maomao thank him in peace, and teases her about not showing enough gratitude. Maomao fires back and tells him he should focus on his work, and figures out he's slacking off. She then leans into his space, with Jinshi now being the one backing away, teasing him further.

The reason I love this scene is because they tease each other. Usually it's Jinshi teasing and Maomao reacting(not reacting how he wants) or it's Maomao unintentionally doing something.

But in this scene, Maomao becomes playful, leans into his space, teasingly asking about his work, with a smirk on her face. Jinshi in turn tells her about the bill and revels in her panic. It's a clear early sign of how reciprocal their relationship can be. So many people paint Maomao as this girl who has to bend to Jinshi's whims whether she likes to or not, and ignore how she herself chooses to interact with him.

Not only does this scene make us the viewers smile, but it also makes Jinshi smile. Cause if you remember he was mourning Kousen and was sad. We see him later looking up at the stars and smiling.

All in all, a good visual of how fun their relationship could be when both try to tease the other.

And for me, it's my number one anime moment for the two.

Stolas better than me, I would have taken the crystal back.

The same way Blitzø didn't owe Stolas a relationship, the same way Stolas didn't owe Blitzø the crystal, especially after Blitzø's bs in his house after the Full Moon.

Well.

In episode 4 of season 2 'Western Energy,' if you pause and read the text thread between Blitzø and Stolas, you learn that after Ozzies, Stolas stopped asking Blitzø to come over for sex.

That is brought up again in The Full Moon, episode 8, where Blitzø sings about how "it's been a while since he (Stolas) begged for attention.

He also later tells Moxxie that he stopped going over for a couple months since Stolas gave him an out.

All this would point to the conclusion that Blitzø didn't want to have sex with Stolas (which is another discussion) so you'd think when Stolas gave him the crystal, he would idk, jump at the chance to stop having sex?

Just for him to crawl back the next day and say he wants to feel like he's 'earning his way to earth.' But with that logic (and lie) wouldn't it have eaten at him earlier that he wasn't holding up his end of the bargain by skipping months of meetups? It wasn't important then, but it's important now. He was happy skipping, but now that it's no longer an option he desires it.

Obviously I'm aware that Blitzø just wanted to see and be around Stolas without having to admit that. The transaction meant he could do it and complain about how much he hated it. With no book, his only connection to Stolas was severed and he panicked. Some would say it was a matter of self-esteem and how Blitzø felt discarded by Stolas, which could also be a factor. But for me he wouldn't have a reason to see Stolas and would have to admit to himself that he was going over because he wanted to, which he clearly wasn't ready to do.

This might be obvious knowledge to some of you, but I still wanted to share my thoughts. I've been rewatching the series, and I got a lot of thoughts I wanted to share.

I'm gonna make another post soon, about the transaction itself.

Thanks, if you read this far and let me know your thoughts, if you agree or disagree.

Would you actually want this canon?

Would you as a viewer want this ship canon?

When I say canon I don't only mean that they get together in the story.

It could also mean they used to date, or one canonically used to/or currently has a crush on the other.

They don't have to be endgame, but would you want want any canon indication of this ship happening?

And if you do want them endgame, would you want Adrealphus redeemed, or on that path at least. Or would you want kind of a toxic relationship?

Just curious.

Imps eye colours

So was it ever explained why some imps have red irises and others have black?

Of the known characters we have:

Blitzø - red

Moxxie - black

Millie - black

Fizzaroli - red

Barbie Wire - red

Buckzo - black

Blitzø's mom - red

I noted that Millie and Moxxie's eye colours sonetimes change to red during intense emotions (anger, fear etc)

I initially thought this was more of a visual effect to show more emotion, but now I'm not sure.

Is this matter of the ring you're born in? Or genetics?

There's been speculation about how bad it is going to be if Stolas tries to contact Octavia, despite her clearly not wanting anything to do with him at the moment. Though I truly believe Octavia still loves her father and has to work through her emotions and choose how to go forward, Stolas trying to talk to her will probably backfire. Lots of people are worried about this being the case where we see Stolas in his royal attire outside the castle.

But if you think about it, it's a 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' situation.

Either

  1. Stolas tries to talk to Octavia, and she gets upset at him for not respecting her wishes. The audience also gets upset, and Stolas haters use it as a gotcha to 'prove he's not a good father' and 'doesn't care about Octavia.'

Or

  1. Stolas actually stays away, and Octavia wonders if he's happy without her and maybe that's the reason he hasn't tried to contact her. This type of mindset is common, where you tell someone to give you space but you also want them to try and talk to you to show they care. We as the audience will also be genuinely surprised if Stolas actually chooses to give her space for all 100 years, or till she's ready to talk to him. Haters will once again, use it and say, 'See. He's not even fighting for her.' Or something like that, idk.

The point is, there's no correct way to go about this. There's no guarantee that Octavia will reach out before the 100 year exile is over and both options for Stolas don't seem all too good.
