Working in healthcare tips

Pregnant and working in direct patient care — how do you get through the day? I have no motivation.

Seeing patients face-to-face all day with very little downtime. The constant talking, educating, problem-solving, and building rapport is honestly mentally/socially exhausting on top of the physical fatigue.

For other healthcare workers who were pregnant in direct-care roles: What helped you conserve energy and get through the day? Any tips for dealing with being “on” with patients all day when you’re already exhausted?

2cm Intramural Fibroid and Pregnant

Hi, I’m 10 weeks and 2 days pregnant. Today had ultrasound and I have a 2cm intramural fibroid. I’ve never had one before. I’m nervous for what this means moving forward and delivery. Also what if it degenerates and have unexpected pain.

I also have a 5cm cyst (my cyster). Between the fibriod and cyst it’s hard to differentiate between what are normal cramping, and these other additions to pregnancy.

The doctor wasn’t considered and just wants to monitor. Is there anything I can do have a healthy pregnancy? Thank you!!

New member of the Migraine Club

Looking for reassurance/shared experiences because this week has really thrown me off.

Earlier this week I had what my doctor thinks was likely a migraine with aura/ocular migraine. Around 11 AM I developed a small zigzag visual disturbance that lasted about 20 minutes and completely resolved. Shortly after, I developed a headache, nausea, fatigue, light sensitivity, and just feeling very “off.”

Since then, symptoms have fluctuated over several days:

\-lingering mild/moderate headache (temple/forehead tension)

\-nausea (not vomiting, just unsettled)

\-brain fog/fatigue

\-anxiety after the visual symptoms

\-occasional tingling sensations in fingers/tongue/extremities

\-constipation/slowed GI system

I only had one similar visual episode about 4 years but no headache.

My PCP prescribed Nurtec ODT (took yesterday at 4pm, been 19 hrs) and a steroid if needed, and I have an MRI scheduled at the end of the month mostly as a precaution. Nurtec has helped but I still feel foggy, nauseous and temple pain.

Mostly wondering:

\-Medication recommendation (taken Tylenol, Advil and Asprin - want to avoid the steroid)

\-Did stopping hormonal birth control trigger migraines for anyone?

\-How long did the brain fog/head pressure/nausea last for you?

Trying not to spiral and would appreciate hearing guidance. I can function but barely. Thank you!
